ESM MD @pierregramegna spoke at the BNP Paribas Open conference in Indian Wells, reflecting on how Europe has been turning pressure into strength. He pointed to growth holding up better than expected and underlined that Europe’s predictability, rule‑of‑law foundations, and strong institutions remain key strengths. He also highlighted ongoing reforms to modernise the single market, integrate capital markets and advance work on the digital euro, alongside efforts to boost Europe’s innovation and scale‑up capacity. Europe is also opening further to the world, with major new trade agreements recently concluded to broaden partnerships and support growth. With more than €430 billion in lending capacity, the ESM continues to act as the euro area’s lender of last resort, an anchor of stability at a time when global fragmentation is increasing. He closed by stressing that, even when geopolitical views diverge across the Atlantic, maintaining close economic and financial ties remains essential.
