@StanfordPlastic Great panel. Huge unmet need. we Discussed procedures to improve upper limbs with spasticity. I didn’t know that 30% of patients with stroke have upper limb spasticity. I suspect they rarely are referred to a hand surgeon. Opportunity to improve 😊#stroke #spasticity

Hand surgeons be aware. We are often the first doctor consulted for the symptoms of #ALS If the patient complains of difficulty with grasp, has intrinsic weakness but INTACT sensation consider a motor neuron disease. #handsurgery

@StanfordPlastic @HandSociety What a great course! Was fun to teach and learn. Denervation has changed my approach to the painful joint. Literature suggests: Efficacy about 70%, easy rehabilitation, low risk, bailout options remain. I rarely do wrist fusions or pip arthroplasty anymore #assh2023 #pain

A family member complained about recent trip and falls. On exam she had a Tinels at fibular head and slight EHL weakness. A colleague did a peroneal nerve decompression under local/Mac and strength is recovered. Look for it! Such an easy fix to a high risk problem #nerve

US surgeons are killing themselves at an alarming rate. One decided to speak out theguardian.com/us-news/2023/s… An important read! As a female orthopedic surgeon I can relate to the pressure of our training. Have self compassion and let’s open up the conversation!

Follow up on yesterday’s 3D microscope fun. For the plexus dissection I didn’t need loupes, the scope light means no headlight needed and look at neck position compared to using loupes Amazing! #nervenerds #surgeonlife @SynaptiveMed

Ok I tried out the synaptive 3-D microscope for a brachial plexus dissection. Very cool! really made the exposure easy and beautiful. Nice that everyone can see the anatomy on the screen. Is anyone else using this technology for nerve surgery? #nervenerds
