Being overweight comes with a health risk , like alcohol and seeking help to overcome personal challenges is always the right thing to do. I think it’s great that @serenawilliams don’t pretend it just happened overnight , but openly inform about what she did to achieve her personal goals in terms of her body. There is not one right or wrong way here, there is only the way that is good for you and we should not shame on this

One of the greatest athletes in the world is shamelessly now promoting weight loss drugs? I fear truly saddened by this, nobody should be encouraging people to take weight loss drugs, but especially a role model and icon of sport. I fear for the future.

@EthanBenard I’ve been where you are a number of times and gained and lost hundreds of pounds. Whatever else you do it’s really important to be kind to yourself and try to not be judgmental. It’s hard but there are some strategies..

I also want to note that this decision is even harder for me because I’m so incredibly depressed in my own body right now. I feel more disgusted with myself and feel like I have more complications and issues now than I did when I was 200lbs heavier. I legitimately don’t know what to do other than push through it. I know it’s all gonna work out in the end; but I’m genuinely suffering with everyday tasks right now and get really upset every time I look at myself in the mirror.

Novak Djokovic, who won zero sets in the fourth round and zero sets in the quarterfinals, is through to the Australian Open semifinals. If this tournament doesn't feel like destiny for him at this point, what possibly could?

@EthanBenard 10,000 steps is a completely arbitrary number. There are some studies that say 7-8k steps per day help with health outcomes. But most importantly doing something that you can accomplish consistently and build over time.

@EthanBenard I’ve been close to where you are and something that helped me in the early days of getting active is a slight reframing to be thankful that you get the opportunity to move your body. It may seem silly but feeling like it’s a gift to be able to move versus a chore helped me.

I get that the physical effort is supposed to suck, but I also know a lot of people who enjoy physical activities. I very rarely experience that feeling at my size. I haven't felt that much at all in my adult life. I actually do enjoy pickleball, and the boxing gym, but those things are so hard for me at this size they definitely don't "feel" good.

@JesseCoxboro @EYakoby The Britons were not part of the ruling class. They were mostly pushed into Cumbria/Southern Scotland, Wales and Cornwall. There was some assimilation mostly via rape and pillaging. Very little of the Britons (Celt) language survived and the Saxons, Angles and Friesians ruled.

@gypsiesheather1 @merrieenglander When we paint everyone with the same brush we potentially are closing ourselves off to voices that are sensible within these groups. People across the political aisles say bad things and we should hold them to account equally.

#tylerrobinson looks like the most vanilla American college kid you could imagine. See how the neomarxist dogmas, permeating education from elementary school onwards, are turning ordinary children into far-left terrorists? Time to expunge fringe left ideas from our institutions.

I feel so stupid. I actually gave her the benefit of the doubt, despite being warned that her motives might be duplicitous. I actually sent her a DM saying it was good to see her looking so happy & she responded positively. My own naivety is to blame, but I feel like a chump…

@IanCarrollShow I don’t see the third option of recognizing Israel, living in peace and building a prosperous and democratic society free of extremism and Islamic fundamentalism. Probably the easiest to choose and at the same time the least likely.

I really can’t get out of my head what has happened to Charlie Kirk. I watched him a lot, not because I agreed with everything he said, but because he was an absolutely formidable commentator and could debate in a relentless, yet respectful way. Shot in the throat for using his voice. I’ll never get that image out of my head. Horrifying.

@JillianMichaels Most of the people who are ‘just asking questions’ aren’t public health professionals, virologists or medical experts. The data is conclusive that vaccines benefits outstrip any risks for most people. Yet, lay people drive the narrative by quoting non peer reviewed sources.

You’re absolutely right that vaccines have saved millions of lives and represent one of the greatest achievements in modern medicine. That fact should never be dismissed or minimized. At the same time, I wonder why it’s so hard to hold both ideas in our heads at once—that vaccines have done immense good and that it’s not unreasonable to scrutinize aspects of how they’re administered today. For example, why can’t we have a real conversation about the necessity of a Hepatitis B shot at birth for a healthy newborn? Or about whether the CDC schedule, which has grown more aggressive over the years, might deserve re-evaluation? Or about the safety of adjuvants like aluminum when injected into infants with developing immune systems? It also seems fair to point out that most pre-licensing trials don’t use truly inert placebo controls, and very few track long-term safety outcomes. That’s not conspiracy—it’s just acknowledging a limitation in the data. So the question I keep coming back to is: if we can recognize the undeniable success of vaccines historically, why is it treated as dangerous or taboo to raise legitimate questions about how we use them today? Why does skepticism around specific policies or practices get conflated with being “anti-vaccine,” when in reality it’s about making sure the science is as strong and transparent as possible?
Neil Stone@DrNeilStone

Why do some people have such a hard time accepting the immense good and millions of lives saved by vaccines over the decades? Why? What hurts them about that fact?

@free_agent @kirawontmiss Normally it’s a combination of things. There is usually trauma suffered in childhood/adolescence, no support available in dealing with trauma, food becomes a substitute drug to provide comfort which leads to addiction.

@pavyg If you take a sleeping aid for years that has been manufactured at a medically certified facility where the batch was tainted by the manufacturer (which they admitted to) then by definition you ARE a victim. No playing required.

Now of course it time for Swiatek to play the "victim" and Andy Roddick of course helps facilitate this narrative. Tennis has become immersed in propaganda; Tennis media help enable this, they are very much part of the problem in Tennis and they hate anyone who points this out.

@cryptmonogamist @Jackiew80333500 @afneil Nobody is saying that except you. I can’t help you if you don’t know the history of the region but prior to the war of independence there wasn’t a single Arab village that was stolen. And if you think there was one name it.
