Good morning, my fellow British Columbians This province, this place we all call home, has given me everything. The right to speak freely. The right to stand for what I believe. The right to fight for a better future for our children. And I have never taken that privilege lightly Many of you have had strong opinions about my decision to fight for the soul of this party. And I understand that. I had a responsibility to stand my ground. I was an independent MLA, removed by the BC Liberals under Kevin Falcon, who refused to stay silent while our province drifted away from the values that built this country. I crossed the floor because I believed British Columbia deserved a real voice, one willing to challenge climate orthodoxy, defend families, and stand up for the people who keep our province working We fought to rescind the carbon tax because British Columbians deserve fairness, not punishment. We built a movement strong enough to become the Official Opposition, something many said was impossible And over the past year, I heard your voices. Every call for change. Every call for renewal. Every call for courage. I did not hear rejection. I heard a challenge to rise to the moment, to serve this province with even greater resolve We made changes. We made course corrections. But as events this week have shown, some of those changes came later than they should have. But let me speak from the heart: the fight for British Columbia is far from over Our land rights are being reshaped without clarity or consent. Crime continues to rise. Families are being crushed under the weight of reckless deficit spending. And whoever leads this party into the next election will almost certainly become the next premier and inherit a province standing at a crossroads. I want to thank my fellow MLAs for standing beside me through every battle. Together, we pushed back against a government that forgot its duty to the people. But this next part is for you the citizens of this province. Across our history, British Columbians have never backed down from hard choices. We built railways through mountains, industries out of wilderness, and communities out of nothing but grit and belief. And now we face another moment that demands clarity and courage. The media will try to anoint their preferred leader, but that may not align with what ordinary British Columbians need. So I ask you to think carefully about the path ahead. Do you want to return to the party that gave you carbon taxes and silence in the face of Ottawa’s overreach? Or do you want a party that will defend your freedoms, protect your prosperity, and put British Columbia, and Canada, first? That is the choice. And if you want a say in the direction of this province, you need to join the B.C. Conservatives and vote, vote for the leader you believe will stand unapologetically for British Columbia’s prosperity and for the future our children deserve. I’m asking every British Columbian who loves this province, who believes in its promise, who refuses to surrender hope, to sign up at conservativebc.ca/membership/ Get involved. Make your voice impossible to ignore. Hold this party to the same uncompromising standard of accountability that you held me to. And with that, I will be stepping down as Leader of the B.C. Conservatives, placing my trust, as I always have, where it belongs: in the people of this extraordinary province. Because I believe in you. I believe in your strength, your resilience, and your unwavering commitment to a stronger, freer British Columbia. The fight for this province has never belonged to one person. It belongs to all of us.
