@EnjoyingRatios @akarlin It doesn't matter much. China imports crude oil mainly from Russia and Saudi Arabia to drive the export oriented economy. If the oil price goes up, they just add a few dollars to the price tags of the goods they export to the US and EU. Russia would actually benefit from it.

Worth noting as we watch Iran: Russia has now seen three friends felled or diminished in little over a year: Syria, Venezuela and Iran, with no apparent ability to defend them or to execute measurable payback. It’s an indictment both of Russian power projection and the strength of its alliances.

I’m trying to understand why people think China is an ally of Iran. Did they sign some kind of secret alliance treaty that I am unaware of? A lot of analysts seem to have binary views thinking that if China doesn’t support sanctions and trade with Iran, it means they are allies.
