@PendleFox_ @geedeeaitch Why then play our key players (Rogers & Tielemens) from start as well as our only right-back. Rogers has started nearly every game. It makes little sense if the main thought was to rest players we ate most reliant on for Thursday.

@cds4324 @geedeeaitch Well Emery is smart enough to understand that won’t happen. It’s a small risk but exhausting your players is a big risk.

There is some silly naivety going around. As if Aston Villa care about relegating Spurs when they are safely in the Champions League and have a Europa League semi final approaching. Any team would rest their best players #AVLTOT

@PendleFox_ @geedeeaitch It could happen. As a Villa fan I really wanted a win tonight. We play Liverpool and City in our last 2 games. Bournemouth or Brentford or Brighton could still pip us. We missed out on goal difference last year which could also happen again.

@geedeeaitch Yes you are. Bournemouth are not making up a 6 point deficit with 3 to play, nor are Brentford making up a 7 point one.

@J_Tanswell I had to miss most of game but almost sounds like we weren’t bothered? Why? That was a massive game. We desperately need CL.

The usual animated touchline - Emery kicking every ball, subs warming up - have seen them all turn into statues. Subs not moving, hands on hips, Emery with hands in pockets. #AVFC

@J_Tanswell I think we can’t afford to rest anyone. We need CL first & foremost and a win today would virtually guarantee it. Then a bit of pressure is off for Thurs but we’ll still be highly motivated as desperate for a trophy. Not to mention everyone bar Spurs fans will be wanting Villa.

This sandwiches a huge Europa League second leg, but it's a credit that a league game in early May will not determine #AVFC's season & Emery can make changes if he wishes. But a win here would push Villa on the precipice of CL, higher up the table & set up Thursday’s massive game

Two years on from the Daily Sceptic's 'junk station' scoop, the Met Office is still leaning on dodgy, heat-skewed readings from badly placed sites – and, if anything, it's getting worse, says our Environment Editor. dailysceptic.org/2026/04/27/tim…

#AVFC have won 12 games this season by a one goal margin. Especially away from home, Emery is happy to keep things tight and wait for the game to develop in the second half. You'd like to think, and have planned, to step things up second half. No changes.

@johntownley11 Rogers can look awful when he gives ball away so cheaply in those areas. And why aren’t we shooting more - it’s a skiddy top! Need more efforts from around edge of box or just outside. We’re overpassing at times.

HT: It's level at the break after Neco Williams restored parity for Forest following Murillo's own goal. Ollie Watkins was denied by Matz Sels shortly after Villa's opener, while Morgan Rogers struck the bar just before the hosts equalised. Nottingham Forest 1-1 #AVFC

@J_Tanswell I can’t remember them hitting the post but you’d expect a top-class keeper to make the Martinez save and the Rowe goal as mentioned before was partly “set up” by Bailey. Had one of the much more tired players (eg McGinn) stayed on they may well have stopped the Rowe goal.

@cds4324 Perhaps. Then Bologna hit the post, Martinez saved fantastically and Rowe cut inside again and scored.

FT: Bologna 1-3 #AVFC A huge third goal. Big win for Villa away from home. Very much second best and were not comfortable at any point, yet found a way to score three goals. Quite astonishing and funny. Villa and Emery won't mind - it's the result that matters and it's a big one

@danbardell Agree. He seemed to have renewed pace and acceleration tonight. Could be a massive asset in that form over the remaining games. (Bailey meanwhile…just play kids/anyone over him now surely.)

@the_parrots @AVFCOfficial He was excellent. Looked strong and like the old pace/acceleration was back. A livewire and deserved his goals. He made the corner for his second goal.

Too many people risk unnecessarily talking down the armed forces in their attacks on the government. HMS Dragon is in port fixing a fault, but that's not the sailors' fault, who made miracles rushing the ship out to sea. The blame for poor preparedness lies with ministers.

Did @BBCr4today really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today

@JulesBywaterLee @JMcG90287475 @toadmeister @metoffice That sounds inconsistent with reports I’ve read where many stations are in the “junk” rating (there is a scale and many are towards the bottom). Surely no excuse for so many readings now in built-up areas (even airfields!) where readings will be skewed towards higher temps.

@cds4324 @JMcG90287475 @toadmeister @metoffice weather stations do not produce junk data- stations are tested, data is clear so called perfect weather stations are impossible in the UK because we are mid latitude - what stations produce is a record
