POSSIBLE ERROR IN INCLUDING DE LIMA’S NAME? WATCH: Rosebert Waupan, one of the former Marines testifying in the Senate probe on the alleged flood control scandal, admitted there may have been an error in including the name of Rep. Leila de Lima on a list of officials allegedly linked to kickbacks. Senator Rodante Marcoleta questioned Waupan on why De Lima was included in the list, noting that she was not yet a member of the House of Representatives during the period being discussed. Waupan acknowledged the possibility of a mistake, saying he may have confused De Lima’s position at the time. De Lima has previously denied the allegations against her. @newswatchplusph

"Such remark of the senator during Thursday’s Senate blue ribbon proceedings was not only irresponsible, but a reckless attack on an institution widely acknowledged as essential to any functioning democracy," saad sa kanilang pahayag. "Marcoleta’s statement unfairly maligned media workers who risk intimidation, harassment and even their lives to inform the public and hold the powerful accountable," dagdag nila.

A Grab delivery rider is getting attention online as he uses the tips he receives to feed stray dogs and cats. In a viral Reel, Benjo Paz shared how customers often let him keep the change from their orders. He puts the extra change in a makeshift alkansiya. Once the savings are enough, he uses them to buy food and water for the dogs and cats he encounters in his daily route. His efforts go beyond setting aside spare change. Before hitting the road, Paz sometimes prepares meals made of rice, meat, and squash for the strays. Rain or shine, he continues his feeding routine—even sharing portions of his own meals with the animals during his breaktime. Earning the trust of the animals did not happen overnight. Paz shared that many of the strays initially ran away whenever he approached them. Over time, they became more comfortable around him—often greeting him with wagging tails whenever he arrived. Among the animals he regularly feeds are three stray dogs he named Blacky, Whitey, and Browney, who were once thin and visibly unhealthy. But in his recent videos, they look much healthier. Paz earned praises for taking care of animals despite rising living costs and the financial challenges that many delivery riders face. "Halos wala nang taong may malasakit sa mga hayop sa panahon ngayon... Saludo ako sa iyo idol!" one user said. "Kaya ka lagi nabe-bless boss eh, blessing ka din kasi sa mga stray cats/dogs… ingat lagi boss," another user said. As he continues collecting tips and feeding stray animals, Paz's story highlights how small acts of generosity can grow into a sustained effort that benefits the animals in his community. Nagreply ng "vague explanation" then namblock? Tapos yung reply Screenshots? Guanzon actually raised an interesting point. But if anything, Avelino v. Cuenco supports the pro-Gatchalian camp. Short answer: If absence abroad can reduce the working count to 23, detention should be an even stronger reason to do the same. LONG ANSWER Think of it this way. In Avelino, the senator who was not counted was abroad. Technically, a senator abroad still has a possible way back: take a flight, return to Manila, attend the next session. And yet, the Supreme Court still accepted the idea that because he could not participate at that moment, the Senate could be treated as having 23 active members instead of 24. So if a senator abroad was given that consideration, why would a detained senator not be? A senator abroad has a logistical problem. A detained senator has a legal and physical restraint. The senator abroad may still book a flight. The detained senator cannot simply walk out of custody and attend session. So under the Avelino logic, the question is not - “Is the senator still alive or still elected?” The better question is: “Can this senator actually participate in the Senate at that time?” If the answer is no, then the Senate has a good-faith basis to treat its working membership as 23. And if the working membership is 23, then 12 is a majority. So no, Avelino is not a problem for the pro-Gatchalian camp. Avelino is their strongest legal anchor. Because if the Court gave consideration to a senator abroad, then logically, it should give even stronger consideration to a senator who is detained and unable to attend. Thank you.

@inquirerdotnet False equivalence. The minority's walk out was to prevent an unnecessary change of the rules. The majority's boycott is just to hang on to power.

MAJORITY BOYCOTTS PLENARY SESSIONS - CAYETANO JUST IN: Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano announced on a Facebook live stream that the majority bloc will not be attending the plenary sessions as retaliation for the minority bloc's walk out on a vote pushing for online participation in the Senate on May 26. Cayetano also alleged that the minority senators are trying to overturn the leadership in the chamber to vacate the Blue Ribbon to stop the planned hearing on Thursday. "Ginamit nila yung parliamentary tool na walk out para hindi matuloy ang pag-change ng rules. So ngayon po, ang majority ginagamit rin po yung rules sa tama, morally and legally, to ensure na hindi agawin ang mga committees para po matuloy ang hearing ng Blue Ribbon sa Thursday at ang iba’t iba pang mga importanteng hearing sa bawat committee," he said. | 📸: Cayetano/Facebook Visit inquirer.net for more stories and updates

@ABSCBNNews @RG_Cruz12479 I find the use of "independence" here is just a convenient substitute for ignoring responsibility and accountability for what the Senate did these past few weeks. And deliberately stopping their constitutional duties is grave abuse of discretion.
