Aydın Gabriel writes about the demographic and cultural consequences of the 1915 Assyrian genocide in and outside of Turkey: “In the city of Mardin in 1915 and afterwards, Armenians were wiped out, while Assyrians/Syriacs were reduced to a very small minority. The population of Arabs there has increased while the Kurdish population has become the majority. For other examples, one can study the region's important cities like Mosul, Hakkari, Urfa, Aleppo, Damascus. All of them were founded by Assyrians who are now almost extinct in those places. Many of the [civilizational] values those cities possess were created by Assyrians no matter what the names [of those places] are today. But the people living in those cities today are Kurds, Arabs, and Turks. The Assyrians, however, have either been exterminated or [their identity or existence] denied.”

@oulosP The greatest blessing for us Turks was ending up neighbors with the Greeks—imagine if we’d never lived side by side—we wouldn’t know what yogurt is. We’d be out eating Danone baby formula, calling it “traditional cuisine,” and arguing over which flavor pairs best with kebab. 😂

Greeks dont claim to have created yogurt, only Turks idiotically do this 1st evidence of yoghurt is neolithic Mesopotamia, 8000 years ago. Ancient Greeks called yogurt "oxygala." Herodatus observed Scythians, an Iranic people, eating it 2500 years ago. But yogurt is Turkish?

@oulosP I already saw that excuse from you and that’s why I said this. Turks were once not able to drink milk because of the lactose intolerance (some Turks in Türkiye even today have stomach aches after drinking milk) btw they found another way to consume it and yogurt is born. Got it ?

@jemapelleeve You are 100% correct. I honestly don’t understand how people can be so damn selfish for a little personal gain on the internet 😂 Some folks will sell out every hidden gem for a few clicks and pats on the back.
