The battle between data warehouses. Redshift vs. Snowflake vs. BigQuery vs. Databricks, with humor. Now it’s left open for someone from #FabricCommunity to write the Fabric (or maybe retro Synapse entry) comes into play. open.substack.com/pub/dataengine…

@SqlWorldWide You sure will. Haven’t decided how far I’ll run yet, but I’ll be there.

I came back to this platform for a moment to note one thing: #PassDataSummit is happening, and I'm ready for Tuesday morning and seeing old faces. Had stepped away for the last year, but then was encouraged to come back.

There's some good PostgreSQL, Fabric, and Databricks (my new pet) content this year which has me hyped. Also proud to present after being convinced to follow up, complete with a Community Zone Q&A. My community excitement has returned. passdatacommunitysummit.com/sessions/2093

When people complain "the media isn't covering this," they usually mean national cable TV news are focused on some other story. So turn it off, seek out the (often local) outlets that are covering it...and amplify their work by sharing it

I came here just to rag on @AmericanAir for not having it together when it comes to plane maintenance. It’s like they want me to not look forward to tomorrow.

I’ve caught bits and pieces of the Olympic Trials, and that women’s 5000m final with Cranny & St. Pierre kicking it to the end was seriously hype. Also, did anyone else catch the @SirWalterRun crew in the front row during the post-race interview? Keep me honest on my vision.

There is a small subset of Very Online people who contaminate the most joyful things in life by shoehorning everything through the lens of irrelevant culture war battles and it is both fascinating & sad

This may sound odd to some, but I have rarely been happier to get rejected for something.

@sqlmal @kekline I thought you were going to say Snowflake for a moment. To be fair, Snowflake has its very good points as a cloud db. Have not worked with Redshift, though, so am curious about the contrast.

@dgmelkin Either 1) someone who didn’t trust dbt Assist, or 2) someone wanting to build the perfect model…and its dependencies.

@fugularity I found an album with one mediocre-to-bad song, and they put that song at the very end to force me to listen.

Surely we can recognize the absurdity that is Queers for Palestine, Fatties for Palestine et al without being all “Oh, gee. Too bad Hamas wouldn’t even rape them.” Maintaining that all humans have worth even if we disagree with them is what sets us apart from the monsters.
