@specifism That’s a kind of superposition that I don’t think is possible. I also don’t think those two categories really capture what I’m talking about. I’m interested in helping build mass movements that organize the unorganized, not just those who would consider me an ally politically.

@IUonStrike In the sense that I want our movements, what we believe, our analysis, our objectives, and how we intend to achieve our objectives to be as widely understood as possible.
Concealing any of this is far more an impediment than it is an advantage.

@DroidLiberator @EcoTechBro It’s not, no. Common Struggle did have a Canadian section, but I think it ended up dissolving in the process of BRRN’s formation (BRRN is US specific). To my knowledge there’s not much there in terms of organization currently. Last relevant group would’ve been Prairie Struggle.

If you are outside dsa and have some left critique, you really have to shape up whatever org/practice you’re in and partake in because starting next year, there’s gonna be an insane political vortex opening up and the only legible thing will be joining dsa and canvassing for AOC.

@DroidLiberator @EcoTechBro Point of clarification on NEFAC, it didn’t dissolve. It changed its named to Common Struggle, which then took part in the class struggle anarchist rapprochement process. It fused with other groups to form Black Rose. There are plenty of people who came from NEFAC still in BRRN.

@EcoTechBro liquidationism is both a genuine opportunist trend to fight against in every revolutionary movement, and the exact trend any infiltrator would seek to promote near the end of their mission. i think both things happened when they "voted to dissolve" ASSÉ after the 2012 strike

@Reverend_Banjo not in the DSA: it is very simple & understandable than in the absence of an anarchist party, some class struggle anarchist choose to join another org to do labour organizing. DSA organise strike & union's work, the local affinity group dont.

@yukinoshoota @EcoTechBro Which is not to say we’re a large organization numerically, we’re not. But like my original quoted post gestures toward: we aren’t interested in bringing on paper members. We’re always pointed toward being an organization of organizers.

@yukinoshoota @EcoTechBro We’re mainly involved in labor and tenant organizing. We’re organizing through and in more than two labor dozen unions and have built new independent unions. Our members also organizing through and in most of the major tenant unions in the US.

One of the most admirable things about BRRN in my opinion. To me, it is very obviously the way forward in the current situation and is absolutely necessary to pull anarchism out of the sedating swamp of communitarian, life stylist, and protest politics.

@Reverend_Banjo Yes, but requirements for membership in Black Rose are deliberately much higher than DSA. I think many people are looking to be a “member” of something, but few are engaged in organizing. This I think is part of the reason why some anarchists have gravitated to DSA.

@cloudofposting @Reverend_Banjo …a new union or tenant formation. Other times it means joining an existing one. If you’re starting from scratch our advice is usually to take the organizer 101 (and above) courses from IWW, EWOC, and/or Labor Notes.
