Why can't AI agents use a centralized exchange? It comes down to architecture. A CEX is built around identity - you create an account, verify who you are, maintain an active session. Every action is tied to a human user that the platform recognizes and can restrict. An AI agent has none of that. It has a wallet address and execution logic. It can't complete a KYC process. It can't log in. It can't respond to a suspicious activity flag that freezes its account. Beyond identity, there's the control problem. A CEX has an operator - a company that can pause withdrawals, restrict access by geography, go offline, or get regulated out of certain markets. Any of those events breaks an agent's execution flow entirely. This is why on-chain infrastructure exists as a separate category. Not better or worse - architecturally different. Permissionless protocols don't have operators. They just run. The trading layer for agents in Web3 is still missing. Not for long.
