@DrShaneRRR @PhDVoice @PostdocVoice @DrShaneRRR - A perfect description of how many of us feel during a PhD. This bit is so true "A successful PhD depends on health, training, commitment, good supervision & supporting infrastructure. If any of these are lacking, the entire endeavour is unnecessarily harder."

For those who want to despair at streaming services “ruining” books and how people read? TV and film *already* changed how we tell and take in stories. And printing and reading changed things before that, too. It’s constantly evolving!

Neurodivergent inclusion requires a shift from pathologising and focusing on “deficits” to a more balanced understanding of the differences and disabilities that individuals experience, as well as accommodating a wider range of methods of research production.

A PhD is about learning how to do research. So, if you ever look back on your earlier work and see ways you could’ve improved it, then that’s normal, and even a good sign.💪 #PhDVoice @PostdocVoice

@StefanoZucca5 @PhDVoice @PostdocVoice 💯 agree. Crying is not conducive to productivity. Mental stability is required to focus. Compassion and encouragement work for me (& I imagine this type of environment is what everyone wants and thrives in).

@ZJAyres @moniqueweemstra And a fantastic book it is. This statistic from your book stuck in my mind & shows how much of an issue mental health during PhDs is.

@ZJAyres I too reached that point but I’m good now. I had a writing/mindset coach & I now stop the unhealthy negative thoughts. I am me, & I do things differently - & that’s okay. I’m learning everyday & that’s how a PhD is supposed to be. 📖📚📃👩‍💻

I love how ADHD makes me pick the most random chore at the most random times. Of course, the correct response to realizing I'm out of fruit cups was to bust out the screwdriver and tighten all the cupboard doors and handles in the kitchen. Of course.

Virtual or in person ‘body doubling’ has always been an effective strategy for me to improve motivation & focus as that’s something I struggle with. Some virtual #coworking platforms or #apps include Flown, @focusmate or FlowClub 👩‍💻(links in article bitly.ws/Bupm)
