i often think that people forget one of the main reasons levi let erwin die, and that's where the roots of "armin was useless" are planted armin had something erwin lacked, and levi knew it — he had the will to live, the capacity to enjoy mundane things, to see the beauty in life itself. that is why he and no one else could change zeke's mind, that is why he and no one else could be the one to lead the scouts to the future after hange's death armin loves life itself, while erwin loved life as much as he loved a tool to reach his only goal. erwin could never become a symbol of the new beginning and the new humanity, while armin's fire had never been diminished even once
