Working with multilayer exrs and knowing when to composite something vs rendering it- from experience I could have saved hours of rendering volumetric if I had spent more time working with mist and z-depth passes! Not to mention a normals pass for minor relighting comes in clutch

Safe to say that Shaders Plus alone has *dramatically* changed my life! 😭 In tradition of being transparent of my journey with it, here is the latest breakdown now that Shaders Plus is 2 years old! 🤯🥳 I truly cannot begin to state how appreciate I am of this entire community! ------------------------------- 2 years ago, I was dead-broke, had just moved in to my first apartment with my GF, and my once stable income from freelance gigs, dried up completely, which resulted in us eventually coming down to only 1 more month of rent saved up. (This was at a time when the whole creative industry had mass layoffs and cut backs) No one was hiring or paid enough nearby, we tried doordash and similar gigwork, which helped a little bit, but wasn't a sufficient option. I felt like I ran out of options, and was afraid that we'd lose the apartment, but I decided to try one more thing, even if that meant just paying for groceries at most to give us another few weeks. I dusted off an old personal project I was working on that yielded some fun effects that are staples in renderers like Octane, but for Cycles. I polished it up a bit to make it easy to use and more functional, and threw it up on gumroad. It started gaining some traction on twitter, and in the first 2 weeks, it not only paid for groceries, but my entire months rent! 😭 I spent all day and night for months, making sure the product was as good as it could be, marketing, customer support, networking, and it continued to pay our rent every month ever since! This last year was even more insane! I was able to move my GF and I into a bigger place, we got a new kitty, made our home feel like a home, go on road trips, went to BCon LA and made some incredibly amazing friends, and I got to participate in the Humble Bundle, all because of Shaders Plus! Shaders Plus also now serves over 70,000 users!🤯 I NEVER would have imagined that ANY of this would be possible, but it absolutely would not have without this incredible, amazing Blender community! And I truly could not be more grateful! It is such a privilege to have something like playing around in Blender all day be my full-time job, and that is something I will never take for granted!
