You don’t need more clients. You need to stop losing the ones you already paid to get. Most growth is hiding in your existing client base.

Memberships don’t fix a broken model. They lock it in. If your numbers don’t work now, they won’t magically work on autopay.

Your top injector might be your biggest risk. If one person drives your revenue, you don’t have a team. You have a dependency. That works… until it doesn’t.

Most medspas don’t have a demand problem. They have a model problem. Busy doesn’t mean profitable. Full schedules don’t guarantee cash. More clients won’t fix broken economics. Fix the model first.

Hey everyone! A good friend of mine, who is a general manager at a hotel, is looking to transition down a CFO/advisory path. He handles all financials, budgeting, ops, staffing etc. in his current role and I think he would transfer well to a role where he can meet with business owners and help them understand their financials and make business decisions. Being in hospitality, he has super strong social skills, which is another plus. Does anyone know of a job opportunity that he may be able to explore? Thank you!!! #TaxTwitter

Want to scale? Track: Gross Margin per service Inventory Turnover (goal: 8–12x/year) % of recurring revenue.

Sell memberships - Recurring $199/month packages stabilize revenue better than chasing one-off clients.

Otherwise, you’re simply selling to get to net neutral and replace the people leaving. Marketing spend isn’t enough. You need to be investing in innovations in customer experience and incentives for retention to compete.

Gym memberships are the best understood subscription model & the most used example to explain monthly recurring revenue. What no one talks about is churn. Studio and gym owners can’t live off of sales alone. You also need to be focused on retention and loyalty as a core metric.

As a business owner, do you simply have a scoreboard or do you have a playbook?

If I got my CPA (Have the quals and a great test taker), Should start my own CPA firm? Note: I aggressively dislike accounting. Thoughts? Anyone want to join me and be a partner? I'll do advisory. @FortWayneCPA @rledbetterCPA @andreamacdcpa

Revenue matters, but recurring revenue matters more. Investors and acquirers love businesses with predictable, loyal cash flow. If you want to build a business that’s attractive for a future sale, think about how you can create consistency—not just sales.

🪒 Dollar Shave Club launched in 2011 with a $4 razor subscription. In 2016, Unilever bought them for $1 billion. How did they get that valuation? …

As a virtual CFO practice, we don’t settle for screen-based relationships. This week, I visited several clients on the west coast and actually see how they operate first hand. It’s now a non negotiable when we work with a client we plan an onsite visit in the first 45 days.

If the boys can do business over scotch and cigars and deduct it, why can’t we deduct this? #businesspedis
