I will always make decisions that are in the national interest.
It’s why we aren’t getting dragged into the Middle East conflict, and why we are fighting to protect your living standards.
And while opposition parties have responded by dividing communities, we respond with hope and pride.
Pride in our communities, and the hope of a country that’s better for our children.
That’s what we’re fighting for. Vote Labour on Thursday 7 May.

Isn't this strange... Labour Together deleted this post from X showing an LT event at 2023 Labour conference, addressed by Peter Mandelson, @jreynoldsMP and hosted by Josh Simons. This screengrab was taken two weeks ago, so only deleted since then. Would be a shame if it was shared, widely, so it never disappears.

On sovereignty and accountability - Reform's core beliefs.
I was listening to GB News the other night where Barry Gardiner was blithely lecturing Zia Yusuf about limitations on ministerial ability to direct the approach the police take to protests / rallies. Barry kept emphasising the principle of operational independence. Zia pointed out that while Reform will of course allow police officers to make operational decisions on the ground, they will hold them to account for applying the law consistently and not allowing a concern for "orderliness" to override the enforcement of the law where illegal actions are taking place.
Barry could not get his head around the idea that a majority elected government might actually change the law to shake things up and give the Secretary of State for Home Affairs more power to direct policing policy and hire and fire senior commanders
This tracks back to the cognitive dissonance many in Westminster have about Reform. They think Reform is just a "more populist" iteration of the Conservative Party guided in practice by polling and contemporary sensibilities.
They fail to take into account a fundamental tenet of Reform's political philosophy - the principle of democratic national sovereignty vested in the Westminster Parliament and Parliamentary Government.
Reform believes significant matters that affect the public interest - like the enforcement of law and order - should rightly be something the elected government can control. This includes holding those who hold positions of responsibility and public trust to account for their performance and decisions.

A reminder.
Reform’s fantasy economics have been written on the back of a fag packet 👇🏻
