The Ranger Road fire has destroyed the Smith Family Homestead was destroyed along parts of their community. Many of you in our industry and across our part of the world know the Smith & Sons Cattle Hauling outfit from Englewood, KS. Bernie Smith was a longtime cattle hauler with a story for every mile he traveled. For years, Bernie, Levi, and Blake hauled cattle side‑by‑side, and it was during one of Levi’s runs home from Montana that our paths crossed. From that moment, our friendship with the Smiths never stopped. Before seed oils flooded the food system, seeds had different purposes entirely. None of them involved eating concentrated extracts. Flaxseed oil: Woodworkers used it for centuries as wood treatment and paint thinner. It polymerizes when exposed to air, creating a hard protective coating. This same property makes it terrible for human consumption: it oxidizes rapidly. But perfect for waterproofing. Linseed oil (same thing, different name): Artists mixed it with pigments to make oil paints. The oxidation that ruins it for eating makes it ideal for painting. It dries into permanent films. Museums preserve paintings where linseed oil has lasted centuries. Because it was never meant to be eaten. Cottonseed oil: Industrial lubricant before Procter & Gamble decided to sell it as food. Too toxic for consumption due to gossypol content. Used in machinery, lamps, and soap making. Agricultural waste that became marginally profitable as non-food industrial product. Rapeseed oil: Industrial lubricant for steam engines. High erucic acid content made it unsuitable for consumption but excellent for reducing friction in machinery. It wasn't called "canola" because that's a marketing rebrand after breeding programs reduced erucic acid. Soybean oil: Mostly used for ink, paint, and industrial applications until the 1950s. Some Asian cultures fermented soybeans for food, but extracting and consuming the oil was never traditional. The beans were eaten whole or fermented, never processed into refined oil. Corn oil: Byproduct of corn syrup production. Initially used for soap and industrial purposes. Only became a food product when manufacturers needed markets for industrial waste streams. Notice a pattern: These oils were useful for industry because they polymerize, oxidize, or have other chemical properties valuable for manufacturing. These same properties make them problematic for human consumption. We took industrial materials and rebranded them as food. The chemical properties that made them useful for painting, lubricating, and waterproofing are the exact properties that make them inflammatory in biological systems. Historical uses tell you what these oils actually are. When your ancestors used flaxseed oil to protect furniture, they weren't being ignorant about nutrition. They were using it for its actual purpose. We're the ones confused about categorization. Some traditional cultures did use small amounts of seed oils. Mediterranean cultures used sesame oil sparingly. Asian cultures used small amounts of peanut oil. Always in moderation. Always as flavoring. Never as primary dietary fat. The dose makes the poison. A few drops of sesame oil for flavor is completely different from consuming soybean oil as 20% of daily calories. Traditional uses were measured in teaspoons for entire meals. Modern consumption is measured in tablespoons per serving. We took industrial products with marginal traditional uses and made them dietary staples. Then we acted confused when industrial-scale consumption created industrial-scale health problems. Your ancestors knew what these oils were for. They used them appropriately. We forgot and started eating them. History provided clear labeling: This is paint thinner. This is machine lubricant. This is wood treatment. We ignored the labels and made them "heart-healthy cooking oils."

@BottleBell Patiently awaiting the tinnitus- developed tinnitus after my one bout of C19. Would not wish it upon anyone. It literally drives me into a dark hole like migraines did before I figured them out. Have found one thing that helps @bbleunaturals but always researching other "cures"

Friends, if I post something (an exercise) in TCM or having to do with Qi Gong / Neidan, with it’s practice name, please don’t use GPT or Grok to tell you how to do them. AI typically makes up the exercises in part or in whole. I’ve seen this constantly and you’ll be getting a fake exercise that does nothing or next to nothing {or} does the wrong thing. I do my best to explain each practice very well but if I ever mention something without a tutorial, plz use YouTube to find a good tutorial. I watch grok get so much wrong and it’s being overused to teach things it won’t have enough training on. Ancient Eastern medicine and archaic practices tend to be among them. A *lot* of people have been asking me about how to do the practice ‘the micro cosmic orbit’. It’s in my list to do soon, along with other goodies. When I get enough requests, I will do posts on them typically. Tinnitus is getting up there as well. I had no idea so many suffered from tinnitus. Thank you! Ash
