@VinceMancini I found the book pretty obnoxious despite being an interesting story. The movie won me over with the incredible production value and Gosling smoothed over the smarmy edges from the source material.

@SiddhantAdlakha I enjoyed this movie quite a bit but I agree the political aspect of its story is hard to grasp and feels compromised. Good piece that gave me a lot to think about although I took something a little different from the treatment of the movie’s villains.

“Hoppers” is a weird one. I know not to expect coherent or progressive politics from a Disney children’s film, as this is rarely the point… but what about when it is, and its cowardly pivots betray its story and central character in the process? joysauce.com/hoppers-pulls-…

My son is so funny and I love him to death. He is an absolute goofball. But he was an especially difficult baby. Most of the QTs I’ve seen to this post are people talking about how easy their babies were. Good for you I guess but that’s not a universal experience.

@VinceMancini This was really interesting, I’ll check it out. An editor is the perfect person to dive into the thorniness of reality television and TCAP specifically. Your interview skills are underrated. Or maybe they’re properly rated I don’t know who is rating these things!

I interviewed ‘Predators’ director David Osit about Hansen, the 2007 suicide incident in Texas that (arguably) ended the show, and more. gq.com/story/predator…

@VinceMancini I loved your piece on this doc, which I rewatched recently after many years. I’m seeing the new movie on Sunday and I assume you are also going to do a piece on that?

The Smashing Machine' opens today. In its honor, maybe you'll read my comprehensive retrospective on the original documentary, and what made it so worthy of an adaptation in the first place? gq.com/story/the-smas…

@VinceMancini Watching this speech I had flashbacks of my grandfather complaining about my gig line, lol. What a dork.

Pete Hegseth’s conception of running the military is exactly the same as Patrick Bateman’s idea of working on Wall Street. “Now John, you’ve gotta wear clothes in proportion to your physique….” youtube.com/watch?v=1fBTiB…

@Steven_Hyden This does unfortunately happen a lot on Hip Hop Twitter. But generally I agree with your point, it’s hyper obnoxious on FT.

Really glad Music Twitter doesn't have the budget discourse that Film Twitter obsesses over, i.e. "Geese needs to move at least 10k units of GETTING KILLED opening week to justify the money spent on weed and pizza in the studio!"

Whooping cough kills babies at a rate of like 5% of cases, which is awful. For other preventable diseases, if you don’t want to vaccinate your child, you should still be able to do that. Just don’t put them in public school. I make that sound easy but hey life is hard, right?
Jonathan Reiner@JReinerMD

Florida Surgeon General Dr Joseph Ladapo tells ⁦@jaketapper⁩ that the pertussis vaccine doesn’t work. That’s incorrect. The DTaP vaccine is 98% effective at preventing infection at 1 year and 71% effective at 5 years.

I have to watch this scene in its entirety any time it’s on my timeline. In another world, this absolutely should have been a star making scene for Aaron Pierre on the level of the “My name is Gladiator” scene for Russell Crowe. Alas, dumped on Netflix.
Congrats to No Other Choice on sweeping the Oscars@TheDougFiles

regardless of how i feel about this being a netflix/tv movie as opposed to a Movie movie, any accolades awarded to Rebel Ridge are very deserved

@SiddhantAdlakha Beautiful review of a movie that is a lot more dense than some are claiming. I definitely took 217 as a Shining reference when I was watching it, especially when there’s a “Here’s Johnny” shot later in the movie. But I really appreciate your deeper look into what’s going on.

“Weapons” fires on all cylinders, and in every direction. A chilling, melancholy, shockingly hilarious horror saga where grief isn’t a metaphor, but an active ingredient. On Zach Cregger’s tapestry of American paranoia, and the likely meaning of “2:17” joysauce.com/weapons-is-a-t…
