@lastchalice Fable 3 was incredible. wtf? Even had co op. I loved everything about it. Fable series is one of my all time favorites. We deserved this game a long time ago. Having said that my hopes for this one are insanely high. I hope I’m not disappointed. We will see tomorrow.

I’m curious what the main reason for all of the excitement around the new Fable is.
I grew up with the trilogy as it released and the first two in particular are phenomenal. The first still stands as one of my favorite video games of all time.
Having said that, not only is the third entry weaker and the rest of the series comprised of spin-offs, I never noticed it having the appeal that many other big franchises have today.
With it being so long since the last truly great release (Fable 2, 2008) is the excitement bore out of primarily nostalgia? I have to imagine the series isn’t widespread or relevant enough in the modern day for that to be the main reason. It’d wager it’s:
- The very long development time
- Playground Games developing an RPG
- Xbox having its own 90+ meta game
- How good the small amount we’ve seen looks
- Nostalgia
…or most likely a combination of all of those things. One thing is for certain, if Playground can marry the quality of those first two Fable games with the expertise that is shown in Forza, there may be several new generations of Fable fans and that’s very exciting.
