@dandolfa This is as much to do with the uncertainty around debt servicing as it is the actual expected chances to default. The former was cited by S&P in 2011 as a concern. I suspect most believe the payments will be made, but the uncertainty and lack of clarity has to have consequences.

Does anyone truly believe that the U.S. Treasury will not service the debt?
