Heartbroken to learn of the passing of my dear friend and teammate, Shane Knight. Shane was an immensely talented basketball player at BYU, with a unique combination of length, athleticism, and a silky smooth jumpshot. For 3 years, Shane and I competed directly for a starting spot and playing time, but never once did I feel anything but love, support and friendship from him. Shane was fun and cool and just an incredible guy to be around. Most of my favorite college memories involved Shane. And he was tough. The only "fight" I've ever been in was when some guy decided to mix it up with Shane in a summer game. I knew he would have my back, so I wasn't gonna let him go it alone. I don't think I was much help. After basketball, Shane became incredibly successful as an entrepreneur and businessman. I loved spending time in his beautiful homes and playing with his awesome toys. Every bed and mattress our extended familty ever owned was courtesy of the Knight "friends and family" discount. Most importantly, he was a great husband to his sweet companion Mary and has three incredible, strapping boys, who adored their father. And he loved them. I can't believe he's gone. I ache for his family. He leaves a wonderful legacy that only comes from a well lived life. Goodbye, my friend.

We’re only two days into the Olympics, and I’m seeing multiple USA athletes in press conferences trying to distance themselves from the flag, instead choosing to prioritize representation of their family, friends and personal causes. You compete for your country, not a crusade.

I was recently at a sacrament meeting for a branch comprising those who have been released from prison and are now transitioning back into normal life. We discussed how, because of the Savior’s infinite Atonement, forgiveness of sin is absolutely available. At times, the Lord requires our patience and humility as we wait upon His full approval “by degrees” (Mosiah 21:16). While the power of the Savior is so present in the forgiveness of sin, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the spiritual miracle needed to heal the serious wounds caused by the sins of others. Forgiveness and relief from the pain of injustice are both found in Jesus Christ. For you who have been unfairly injured by the serious sins of another, I long to share the Savior’s love and compassion, His comfort and peace. The sadness you have felt, the heartbreak, the loss, the suffocating feeling of betrayal, the upending of your life as you imagined it to be—I give you my absolute assurance, the Savior knows you and loves you. Reach out to Him. He is your comfort and strength; He will send His angels to bear you up. When will your pain be gone, your grief subdued, the unwanted memories forgotten? I do not know. But this I do know: Jesus Christ has the power to bring beauty from the ashes of your suffering (see Isaiah 61:3).

In preparing a book that was recently published, I took the occasion to reflect anew on the teachings I have emphasized throughout my service as a General Authority. In doing so, I have felt deep gratitude for the great, unchanging fundamentals of the gospel—our knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ, the priesthood of God, and the plan of salvation. This doctrine has anchored my life and direction. As we increase our understanding of these foundational truths and live according to them, our love for the Savior will grow. I testify that He is our Redeemer, the light and life of the world.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland spent his entire life sharing the love and divinity of Jesus Christ. His warmth and humor is how I imagine the Savior would speak to us. How do you thank someone who makes you feel that kind of love? May our Father in Heaven bless his family! 🙏

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland was a towering leader of faith—and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. Years ago at a BYU football game he looked at me, smiled, and said, “You washed up good.” 💙 When I was called as a bishop, his counsel changed my life: “Decide how many hours you’ll give to your calling—then go home and be a great dad and husband.” He taught me that you can serve the Lord with power without ever sacrificing your highest calling. His voice shaped generations—and shaped me. He will be deeply missed.

I don’t typically share things like this… but I feel it appropriate today… to further spotlight the legendary @HollandJeffreyR. It’s my journal entry from the last time I was fortunate enough to speak with him in March of 2025. A true highlight of my life. Attached below: 💙🙏🏼

The passing of former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue made me reflect on the week we spent together in China. He was brilliant, loved the players, knew the history, and respected everyone he met. I loved him. My prayers are with his wife, Chan, and their family.@NFL @Eagles

@DavidDJJames Casey Stauffer runs our Corporate Sponsor Team. He did a great job of filling up the suites. This is going to be a fun team to watch. Last night was a lot of fun. KY has reloaded and he is ready to go! Locked in! Now let’s get after a tough Iowa State team in Ames!

So many of LJ Martin’s runs broke off a Carsen Ryan block. He’s been a critical piece to BYU’s success…. You’ll have to take my word for it. His film is nasty good.
