The first rule of happiness isn't low expectations, it's self-respect. Protesting and exposing the facts when your work and time weren't properly compensated goes hand-in-hand with this. Low expectations = undervaluing your time & efforts, and not trusting yourself.

The San Antonio Spurs are a championship organization built on culture. The Oklahoma City Thunder are a flop-driven organization built on whistles. That’s the difference.

why did it take so long for someone with a louder voice than mine to finally say this? Hilarious when i hear "but but people used to talk that way before AI too-" no. same with "quietly" and all that bs. Now people have begun sounding like AIs even when they're not using it 😂
Mickey from Arcadia@mickeyhardy

Please stop. Dont do this anymore: “If it’s not X, it’s Y.” “This wasn’t just a product. It was a movement.” “We’re not here to compete. We’re here to change the world.” “Not just an app. A revolution.” “More than a brand. A lifestyle.” “Not building for today. Building for the future.” Let me introduce you to the AI antithesis. I hear this cadence everywhere now. Radio ads. Founder videos. Netflix dialogue. VC pitch decks. Twitter threads. You can instantly tell when someone handed their brain to an LLM. There are two major problems: 1.) It’s obvious slopification. It makes your brand feel cheap. It signals creative laziness. It shows a lack of taste. A lack of originality. A lack of pressure-tested thinking. The irony is that everyone thinks AI makes them sound smarter, but in reality it compresses everyone toward the same median tone. Same sentence structures. Same faux-philosophical contrasts. Same pseudo-profound framing. 2.) It’s eroding your cognition. Wharton coined the term “cognitive surrender.” Every time you outsource the articulation of your thoughts, you weaken the very muscle responsible for producing original ones. The human mind flourishes under cognitive resistance. There is immense value in: -searching for the exact word -restructuring a sentence 15 times -interpreting tone and dialect -synthesizing first, second, and third-order implications -wrestling with ambiguity until something precise emerges The value of a unique perspective is usually proportional to the resistance it took to arrive there. More friction → deeper synthesis. Deeper synthesis → sharper insight. Sharper insight → originality. Creative genius was never supposed to feel frictionless. Stop outsourcing one of the most beautiful aspects of human intelligence to a machine for the sake of a short dopamine hit disguised as sophistication.

@Grimjows my 2 cents, besides standards, i certainly feel like a lot (not all) of women in their 20s have become very awkward when interacting with guys, they do not meet them enough in their environment (school or work), overthink everything, and this makes guys feel they're the problem

women in their 20s have high standards. this is something a young man learn the hard way when he’s also in his 20s. you can offer her flowers, respect her like no one before, take initiatives and be leading, bring her in nice places and have a solid situation, the truth is women (mostly on dating apps and social media) want the maximum level of security possible and feel like they have infinite options. our generation has now the possibility to access the “relationships” market much faster than ever before, via various vectors, such as apps. as a young man, you’re not only competing with the other guys from your town, you’re also competing with strangers on the web in the nearest big city, or anywhere in the world. these new rules make it exhausting for a young man to keep on dating and pursuing his wish to build something sustainable. my best advice for the average son in his 20s: stop dating apps, there also are women outside who never used it and aren’t gaslit into believing your relationship have an expiry date before it even started. however, women exigences tend to drastically decrease when their entering their 30s. then, the entire rules switch, and they have to compete with women of the same age as well as women in their twenties. lot of men of the same age are engaged in long term relationships and committed. and there you go, the “rush for marriage” is kicking off, it’s still very true in Europe and in East Asia. who’s to blame? absolutely no one. more and more women have ambitious careers and long term commitment is seen as exhausting/impossible in certain cases, as it gets hard to balance personal life with the professional one. again, this is not the majority, at least not for the previous generations. would be curious to see how it plays out for the second half of the Gen Z. same applies for men. no one is wrong or right, people just have different ambitions at different stages of their lives, and your goal is to perfectly be aware of it in order to find what suits you the best.
