unfortunately most people today are still employing the same condescension and dismissal as this broadcaster exhibits toward the allegation. These are the same people who believe Lee Harvey Oswald's bullet zig-zagged in defiance of physics to kill JFK, and that a passport not only miraculously survived explosions that brought down the twin towers, but it miraculously landed on top of the rubble for an easy swift find.

As a rule governments reject applicants for a visa, residency permit, or citizenship if they determine the applicant represents a security risk to the county in question. This is considered standard practice around the world. Many governments will also reject applicants who do not represent a security risk but have expressed persistent criticism of that country. Israel, for example, routinely engages in this practice. According to new criteria adopted by the US government, the United States is to the best of my knowledge the only state that will now reject applicants on the basis of their criticism of a foreign state, Israel, with which it does not have a formal treaty of alliance. It seems the guidelines will permit a greater level of criticism of formal allies, and of the US itself, than of Israel. Will Israel reciprocate and ban applicants for Israeli citizenship who are similarly critical of the US? No.
