@changochen11 That's definitely a challenge generally, but there are likely heuristics we can use on any crashes found (e.g. looking at the stacktraces, crashes that happen no matter what the input is) to filter out a good chunk of these and reduce noise.

This one is interesting -- it wasn't caught by the existing fuzzing harness because the way it's set up forces the input to have a null terminator which hides a single byte OOB read.

@changochen11 @ICSEconf @mboehme_ @klainfo @stephanlipp Excellent question. Just take ffmpeg as an example. After 15mins Chao2 estimates max coverage as 13975. However, when you fuzz further you almost always go pass that. i.e after 30mins your actual coverage is 15087 which is more than your estimate. That is we call a false peak.
