Justice Secretary Robert Buckland QC has forcefully rejected research by leading scientists which found that prisoners are more likely to die of Covid than people in the community. insidetime.org/?p=74557 @InsideTimeUK

@robroballen @russwebt @InsideTimeUK They tried to find reasons to reject findings, none of which we (the researchers) accepted. Rate based on person time, death count equivalent to community definition, standardised by age/sex (usual approach). Closed setting + poor underlying health = why they are at high risk!

@russwebt @InsideTimeUK Surely @RobertBuckland and his analysts need to set out reasons for rejecting the findings. There may well be some e.g the study didn't make a fair comparison - but "I get quite worked up about this" doesnt really do.
