@jovanbuha Hey Jovan can you confirm that the middle tier of trade logistic is 9 mill? I've seen mostly 7.5 mill in that tier from searching around. Love your coverage of the Lakers btw

Circling back to this now that the Lakers’ moves are official and they’re going to operate above the cap — but below the first apron — with any trades moving forward. Here are the salary-matching trade rules: -- Up to $8.8M in outgoing salary can bring back 200% plus $250K (e.g., Jaden Hardy for a player making up to $12.25M) -- $8,800,001 to $29M will be padded by a flat $9,096,000 (e.g., Jarred Vanderbilt for a player making up to ~$21.5M) -- Above $29M will be limited to 125% plus $250K (unlikely LA is able to combine this much salary)

This means the Lakers will operate above the cap to acquire a starting-level forward/wing (if they so choose). Here are the salary-matching rules they'll be dealing with: -- Up to $8.8M in outgoing salary can bring back 200% plus $250K (e.g., Jaden Hardy for a player making up to $12.25M) -- $8,800,001 to $29M will be padded by a flat $9,096,000 (e.g., Jarred Vanderbilt for a player making up to ~$21.5M) -- Above $29M will be limited to 125% plus $250K (unlikely LA is able to combine this much salary)

@PlayoffDude I believe that is only if they do the trade after the signings. But if they do the trade beforehand then there is no restriction. And also I believe the two month restriction is only for aggregation (with other players). So he could be moved alone in the worst case.

The Lakers don’t need Hardy at all, but do you guys think they’ll keep him or trade him tomorrow? If they don’t move him, they’ll have to wait another two months before he’s eligible to be traded again.

@Yinoma2001 Would have taken close to max if not max starting salary. Detroit trolly end up offering a shorter term or descending deal around the supermax.

Would you have wanted Duren with the Kessler package or is Kessler is the right one of the two?

with the amount of player friendly deals and player options Pelinka gives out you would think players around the league think “wow Lakers are so cool I want to go there” but I haven’t really seen that

@Yinoma2001 This is the case in which I want the contract to ascend. I think this contract can start as low as 28 mill in the first year.

So by my rough calculation, we have the 9.4m room exception, about 20m in cap space. Ayton is a tradeable 8m-ish. Vando/DK = 16m-ish too. Really wonder if we are going to keep Ayton or move him along? Doubt he wants to be a bench guy.

2.5 hours into free agency and no significant free agents have moved yet That’s abnormal, no?
