I get smeared as an apple/sellout on one end & that i favor natives on the other. It’s a no-win situation for natives in politics. I know we have to deal with DRIPA and Cowichan but this is a stretch. Hang in there Lianne! Tracey knows what you’re going thru

PERSONAL: @PeterMilobar slams @KerryLynneFindl for insinuating that he has a conflict of interest for having an Indigenous wife.

This is so damn disrespectful. Obama was a US Senator, a state Senator and a community leader and advocate for years before becoming POTUS. A Harvard educated lawyer, first Black president of the Harvard Law Review. Spencer Pratt was a reality tv boyfriend 2 decades ago. Stop it

The debate proved that the only hope for the Conservatives to defeat the NDP is Iain Black (or maybe Peter Milobar). Why? Because the caucus will split under Elliott, Fulmer and Findlay. Why? Because their behaviour tonight (and routinely on X), showed that they have zero clue how to juggle the big tent that is our caucus. The purity tests will kill us. And 3 of the candidates are choosing to die on that hill.

Also the Conservative leaders debate. My take: Black was most serious and premier like. Fulmer was too aggressive in his attacks on Elliott. Elliott was on the defensive more than anyone and weirdly played the culture identity card, ignoring real issues. Milobar was ignored and Findlay did better than expected. #bcpoli

I see we’ve entered familiar territory for conservative movements in Canada these days. We are at that stage of the BC Con race. John Rustad could have beaten David Eby last time on affordability. Instead he talked about straws. #bcpoli

NEW: Pope Leo XIV says that the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexual ethics must be less prioritized over “greater, more important issues.” “We tend to think that when the Church is talking about morality, that the only issue of morality is sexual. And in reality, I believe there are much greater, more important issues, such as justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion, that would all take priority before that particular issue.”

Since MAID has been enacted in 2014, approximately 90,000 Canadians have chosen dying by this method rather than painful, drawn out, or medically complicated deaths. This represents 0.2% of the Canadian population and accounts for approximately 2% of all deaths since 2014. /2

RFK Jr. says HHS will fight to stop assisted suicide laws from spreading in the U.S. “I think those laws are abhorrent.” “In Canada today… I think the number one cause of death is assisted suicide.” “It targets people with disabilities and people who are struggling in their lives.” “I don’t think we can be a moral society… if that becomes institutionalized.”

North Vancouver council has voted to stop a major waterfront industrial business from producing liquid chlorine The plant makes 70% of the chlorine used for drinking water purification in Western Canada but council said the risks to human health were too high. I often hear municipal colleagues decry the lack of seriousness with which they’re treated by provincial & federal governments - and then they make decisions like this. Chemtrade produces the vast majority of the chlorine used for water purification in western Canada & was subject of a disinformation campaign by an American rival. If our country ever wants to stand on its own two feet, we must have places for critical industries to operate. I would welcome Chemtrade, and the hundreds of family-supporting jobs they produce, to Port Coquitlam.
