The right area is the makeshift landing strip where they landed 2 C-130s and had 4 MH-6 Little Birds. "One Little Bird flew to that mountain top area and rescued the WSO and brought him back to the landing strip. And of course the two C-130s' nose gears got stuck in the dirt. So after a few hours they had to bring in three AFSOC Dash-8s to fly out the rescued WSO and the 100 or so personnel involved in the op." 1/2

FG Secures Agreements For Ambassador-Designates From Ten Countries The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an update on the ongoing process of securing acceptance, also known as agréments, for the newly appointed Ambassadors-designate. The process is progressing steadily, with agreements already received from the following countries: United Kingdom, France, United States of America, Ireland, Qatar, Republic of Benin, Ethiopia and Djibouti, Senegal, as well as Sierra Leone. Other responses are still being awaited. A statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimibie Ebienfa, informs that the date for the Induction Ceremony will be announced in due course, as soon as it is finalised and confirmed by the Presidency.

Governor Alex Otti has just announced that the the leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints has donated to the State, a brand new, World Class MRI Machine at a cost of One Million Dollars, to boost our medical services in the State. The Church has released the funds and the process of bringing in the machine is on, and when it arrives, the Governor said, it will be domiciled at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba. The Governor is grateful to the church for this wonderful donation and their partnership with the State Government. His Excellency just announced this at his Media Chat which is currently ongoing. As a consequence of the intervention of numerous highly respected leaders for whom I have the greatest admiration a ceasefire between myself and my friend and brother Bobby Dee is now in place. I will make no more comments about him and hopefully he will do same. We are both Nigerians and we share common values even though we disagree politically. I believe we can both move on with our lives peacefully as from today despite the hurtful things that were said on both sides over the last 24 hours. BREAKING: Group counters Pete Edochie’s claim, insists Amaechi revived Eastern Railway Corridor A civil society organisation, the CRA27 Advocacy Network, has challenged claims made by veteran Nollywood actor and elder statesman Pete Edochie that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, “cut off the South East from the railway system,” insisting that historical records show the eastern rail corridor was revived during Amaechi’s tenure. In a statement titled “Setting the Record Straight on the Eastern Railway,” the group’s representative, Ifeanyi Obasi, said the allegation contained in a widely circulated video had gained attention largely because of Edochie’s stature and influence in national discourse. The statement read: “In a widely circulated video late last week, veteran actor and elder statesman Chief Pete Edochie alleged that former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi ‘cut off the South East from the railway system’. The remark has attracted understandable public attention, given Chief Edochie’s stature and the weight his voice carries in national discourse.” Obasi, however, maintained that the claim did not accurately reflect the documented history of railway development in Nigeria’s eastern corridor. “However, the statement does not reflect the factual history of Nigeria’s eastern railway corridor,” he said. According to the group, by the time Amaechi assumed office as Minister of Transportation in November 2015, the railway line linking Port Harcourt to Maiduguri had already been in a state of severe deterioration after decades of neglect. He added that the situation across the corridor had been dire, with rail activity virtually non-existent in many areas. “In many places trains had not run for a generation, stations were abandoned, and sections of the line were overgrown. The first priority of the Ministry of Transportation at the time was therefore not expansion, but revival.” The group stated that one of the earliest steps taken by the government under Amaechi was the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Aba section of the eastern narrow-gauge railway line. Obasi said: “Within months of taking office, the Nigerian Railway Corporation rehabilitated the Port Harcourt–Aba section of the eastern narrow-gauge line and returned it to service.” He further explained that the restoration of train operations between the two cities marked the revival of rail transport in the region.
