Trauma treatment for children is important in breaking cycle of violence! As a BPD Homicide Detective, it was not unusual to see young children standing outside the yellow tape, watching a young man they knew laying dead in the street. Imagine a 7 or 8 year old having to see that
Dr. Tracy Bale 🟧🧠@TheBaleLab

Trauma impacts so many aspects of health. Brain function is significantly tied to trauma experience. This is so important for Baltimore, for our children, our schools, and for a healthy city.

@JacksonFlaccson @donta_b @MayorBMScott I’ve read the poll and it’s encouraging! I am not trying to scare people from visiting or living in Baltimore. Now that murders are under control it is the time to take public safety to the next level. Baltimore is still losing population

@donta_b @charmcitycop @MayorBMScott That’s not what the poll said at all. I suggest you read it. I’ll link it. They asked very tailored questions: 1. Do you think there is more, less, or the same crime as a year ago (no baseline to what level that crime was) 2. Do you feel safe walking after dark (52% said yes)

Why does Baltimore still feel unsafe? Visiting or living in Baltimore is NOT unsafe! It is unpleasant! It’s Quality of Life Who wants to take their kids to the Aquarium and navigate around beggars & mental cases? @MayorBMScott what is your plan?
Eric Karl Hontz@eric_hontz

Absolutely amazing - 4 homicides in April. Quality of life issues still an issue and no time to put the foot off the gas - the city needs deep reform to become an attractive investment destination so that jobs and opportunity can keep these numbers low. thebanner.com/community/loca…

@JSmails @PeterMoskos It was the best raisin bread I ever tasted. If it had continued on the conveyor belt and been sealed in plastic it would’ve been another blah loaf of bread from the grocery store

@JSmails @PeterMoskos That’s where I learned that plastic wrap kills the taste of bread. I was in the HS plant office following up on a robbery case. The manager asked if I wanted some raisin bread. He opened a sliding window and grabbed loaf as it went by on the conveyor belt. He put in paper bag.

@charmcitycop @MayorBMScott A lot of us go to the Aquarium, Science Center, Zoo, Druid Hill Park, O's games, play, concerts and other events all the time. W feel safe and have great, quality times. Some of us even travel to Baltimore & stay with friend happily living there to do so.

@philnino @MayorBMScott Northern part of the city has always been safe and enjoyable place to live. As a rookie I patrolled Charles Village, it was a great place - it reminded me of Boston where I went to college. I had an apartment near University parkway and later brought house near Memorial Stadium

@charmcitycop @MayorBMScott Downtown needs a reboot for sure. But there’s more to Baltimore than the tourist areas dude. The northern part of the city is criminally underrated

@SteveBurke2000 @YoungMarkD @4real_Emenefee @MayorBMScott Laws are on the books to provide necessary tools to address the problems. To be clear I am not advocating for zero tolerance arrests as the solution. The Mayor could address this with intervention program. As you noted many are addicts

@ScottieSimp58 @MayorBMScott I checked the website - it looks amazing! What I was trying to convey is that Baltimore has had such success in reducing violence, the focus should expand to address low level disorder that makes life unpleasant and people feel unsafe!

@JacksonFlaccson @donta_b @MayorBMScott Myself, I am speaking to disorder, that is the lowest level crimes - which are being ignored. Bums begging for money. Teens riding e-bikes recklessly and obnoxiously. Mentally disturbed individuals frightening people etc

@SteveBurke2000 @MayorBMScott Your city? I want OUR city to prosper! When I served on the BPD, I lived and owned a house near the old stadium. Because I receive a BPD police pension, I want and need the city to prosper!

@eric_hontz It’s an incredible achievement! Quality of life is what is holding Baltimore back. Visiting the Inner Harbor is unpleasant not unsafe! Who wants to take their children to the Aquarium while navigating around beggars and mental cases?

2007. James Comey gives a speech about leaks and the benefits of leaking information to the press. Comey went on the leak information during the Russia hoax, first denying it under oath and then eventually admitting it. Comey was such a dirty cop.

@notistotny @Surtur @Mjim22 @ivanjbates That is true! Baltimore because of its poor economy did not initially attract immigrants. Unlike Northern Virginia, PG and Montgomery County with massive immigration and where MS-13 is a driver of violence. That MS-13 violence largely stays within the immigrant population

This is a miracle! Baltimore 4 murders in the month of April! As a BPD Homicide Sergeant my squad once handled 6 separate murders in a 8 hour shift! While I give Prosecutor @ivanjbates major credit…there is no scientific study showing how or why this miracle happened
Justin Fenton@justin_fenton

I’ve seen Baltimore experience four homicides in a day - even the span of a few hours - countless times. April just saw 4 homicides for the entire month, a single-month, all-time low for the records we have going back to 1970. @alex_mann10 reports thebanner.com/community/loca…

@Offduty1983 @ivanjbates Agreed! Indeed what has changed? People point to various programs, factors and trends. However no one has shown me the evidence on what caused the incredible reductions in murders
