Seeking further clarity on a few bits for full view of story in next few days. This one certainly deserves due care and attention. Share the understanding of @robstaton in that as of last update, no formal bid has yet been submitted for Barry Bannan. Gather though that HP / club / admins are aware of Millwall's interest and have discussed situation with Bannan at some length over last week or so. Clearly that explains why club haven't offered tributes etc ahead of today - simply not at that stage yet. This is a unique set of circumstances. For clarity, there's never been a suggestion Bannan is being pushed out of the door - it's well known that the contract he agreed to under restrictions means he is not among the club's biggest earners so that's not a financial requirement. I think most can absolutely appreciate any reasons BB would have to leave and a desire for colleagues to be aware of where he's at heading into what is expected to be his final game. Equally, that decision becoming public far from ideal ahead of formal confirmation of bid. My working understanding is that there had been some sort of agreement around letting BB go on a no-fee / nominal fee deal with kick-ons. No reason to believe as things stand that agreement has changed. Worth taking a look at @DaleJohnsonBBC's thread re preferred bidder ability to offer cast-iron contract offers etc. Share much of that understanding. Speaking personally, I think most would see the value in a clean and amicable deal here - when formal engagement arrives as is absolutely expected. Like I say, not rushing this.
