This VF photo and article ("Crypto’s True Believers Demand to Be Taken Seriously") feel so off to me and I was trying to figure out why. I think it's because it feels like something that was written in the 2018 era of crypto -- where belief was almost everything the industry had going for it. blockchains and tokens were live but mostly just to gamble with. so a photoshoot that portrays crypto people as this excentric rag tag group who somehow still hang on to their weird ideals even as prices crash made sense back then. But not today.

If you bought 1st Edition Pokémon cards back in 1999 for 1,000 USD, they’d be worth almost 5M USD today. That 37% annual compounding growth rate would have returned you a 5,000x over 27 years. The S&P 500 returned 14x during the same period. Conviction and time horizon. Simple as that.

With 4 zards now vaulted, the @charred_io NAV currently sits at $ 2.3M (excluding liq pool which is another 0.2M). Circ mcap is only at $ 1.5M. My thesis is folks are pricing in an illiquidity discount, both for the zards and for the vault. Our goal has always been to prove you can run an entire private equity lifecycle onchain. Question now is whether we should already start demonstrating liquidity & distribution. Thoughts welcome.
