My most controversial point about video games is that they aren't games anymore. They're basically cinematic variants on choose your own adventure books; they're dopamine hamster wheels inside a Skinner box.
Thus, what we call "gaming" isn't gaming at all. It's just dopamine addicts tricking themselves into thinking they're doing something meaningful, thus avoiding the existential despair that comes with realizing that you're wasting your life.
