prof. laughon, from nursing school, speaks to medical response. there was a large amount of chemical irritant released, with one student potentially entering seizure & prevented from receiving care. the macing was immediate & pervasive. the university did not provide medical aid.

@mtgillikin as someone who manned the medical tent for ~a majority of saturday, there were absolutely no professional medical assistance for everyone hit with the ‘chemical irritant known as pepper spray’ as it was mansplained on the town hall

Here's UVA official policy: "All tents must be permitted by Environmental Health & Safety prior to being erected. Final approval is not granted until the tent has passed inspection by EHS." The doc reads that it was last updated last year. "Guidance" was quietly updated this AM.

It’s crazy that even our president has decided to hide behind a screen and a policy that was changed This Morning. One that touts student safety but then thought it would be a good idea to involve state police? Make it make sense.

charlottesville continues to endure a housing crisis that affects students and consequently marginalized communities - this proposal would create more housing opportunities for students while reducing this burden placed on these disproportionately affected neighborhoods
