@TheHoopHerald How are you looking at a guy who shot very poorly on entirely wide open looks and think wow these coaches are terrible for not letting him shoot more

Red Sox flight was supposed to leave Chicago at 9:45 ET / 8:45 CT last night, as is custom after a series ends. It still hasn’t left the gate at Midway.

I just hate this framing. The USMNT players agreed to a deal no one else on the planet has ever agreed to, showing solidarity to the women’s team when FIFA won’t, and some folks on here turn around and roast their relative lack of success as a result. That sucks, man.
Geoff #FromDC Crawley@VoiceOfThePhan

So, to be clear, the women have won 4 World Cups and the men have won *checks notes* none. Why are the MEN being paid as much as the women?

The most depressing thing about loving soccer in the USA is seeing the pattern of everyone not care, then misunderstand, then get hype, then clown on soccer once the USMNT lose, then just move on. Repeat every 4 years.

FWIW, 2 sources who told me the same thing: Trump called Infantino to understand the rules, didn’t make a specific ask & was told it was being independently reviewed "If Trump had put his thumb on the scale and achieved this result, he would have a field day bragging about it”
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

🗣️ A US official confirms to @Emilylgoodin that President Trump and Gianni Infantino spoke following Flo Balogun's red card. "The President and Infantino did speak, and the President wanted to better understand the reason why a red card was given and why there was a suspension. "The appeal process is run by an independent board. The US government provided additional evidence that was used in the appeal process."

U.S. got screwed with the red card in the game. Said f it. We ball. Outscored Bosnia despite being a man down. Balogun shook hands with the official anyway. Handled it like a total pro. Was told there were no appeals. Said f it. We ball. Bring on Belgium anyway. We’ll still win. We’re told today he can play. We say cool. Everyone else shows 0 class whatsoever. F it. We ball. See you tomorrow.

Interesting point on the Balogun situation that’s gone unnoticed: Jenny Taft and now the NY Post are reporting that FIFA was already reviewing the red card (protocol?) before Trump made any calls, and that the USSF was threatening to go to CAS over the issue… Entirely possible that Trump swooped in and took credit at the last minute, certainly not out of the ordinary for him

Every country on earth would unhesitatingly also bribe FIFA to allow their top goalscorer to keep playing, don't let any of them make you feel bad about that.

That second part is the biggest problem I think. I love MLS and i love going to MLS games but in the public eye MLS is just for lame millennial losers and until that changes how can you convince someone to be a fan
𝚑𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎@hellspatisserie

The MLS. Watch a 40 year old European superstar being paid $500k play with some guys who couldn’t hack it in League 2. Hang out with a guy who has an encyclopedic knowledge of IPAs who goes “erm… okay…” if you make a rude joke about Los Angeles when your team is playing Galaxy

It sucks to hear people be so condescending about how they would NEVER watch that trash because if we got past this its genuinely fun but when MLS fans are so uppity about their superiority in response what can you even say
