If you're a music lover over a certain age, you've probably turned to someone younger while music was playing and proclaimed: "You don't know nothin' bout this." For Day 8 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share the song you gotta put the "young uns" on to.

@NikkiMcR Because the NBA is been ran by the same guy that praised Henry Kissinger when he died.

The success the right has had terrorizing sports and pop culture figures into never speaking out about politics can’t be understated. Why the fuck is the NBA — amid a push to become a global sport — welcome the guy running migrant concentration camps.

Adam Silver says he’s thrilled that Donald Trump is attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals “President Trump is very much a New Yorker. I’m thrilled another New Yorker wants to participate in the enthusiasm and the joy around this Knicks team.” (Via @BenGolliver )

@linked_inpark @Svetz17 It was a year after Mac passed. I don’t think the response would have been different if it happened 5 years later. People love Mac and got defensive and I understand that.

@chazclark88 @Svetz17 There’s a time to show the complexity of a friendship and be forthcoming years down the line. Right after death probably not the time lmfao

In hindsight. And this is coming from a guy who basically credits Mac Miller as my full intro into loving Hip Hop. This really wasn’t that bad…it was just a bit accusatory, passive aggressive, and poorly POORLY timed. Like, that shoulda stayed in the drafts. Not all thoughts should be shared. However, what really did it is Anderson Paak’s emotional response to GoldLink. Personally, I was never that into Link’s music, though I have to give credit to him for seeing how the rise of Afrobeats was on the horizon to penetrate the American music market, so I joined the pitchfork-laden mob at the time. But honestly, this really got overblown and it just shows how devastating losing Mac was. I don’t “feel bad” for GoldLink, but he probably didn’t deserve to lose his career over a misguided post.

@ReelTalker He’s right. But he needs to shut the fuck up. For decades when black people weren’t even being considered for roles he said nothing. Now Hollywood is overcompensating and it’s affecting the quality of films now he has something to say ? Fuck outta here!

@Southside_Gunn I stopped watching the Chi after season 4 which is saying a lot because I was OBSESSED in season 1. I know they had some stuff go down but the storyline started to not make sense and it was making me too mad.

@coolerstorycori @_iamjamila Exactly. She shows the limits of feminism. Once you establish this heirarchy of oppression. Then what? This is typical mainstream feminism word salad. Womanism is great because it allows us to be heard equally with an emphasis on black women.

@_iamjamila She actually didn’t bc 1. Why would my response to my man acknowledging his oppression be “well you’re not more oppressed than me, so quit complaining.” And 2. She’s wrong that BM & ww tap in & out of 2nd place by EVERY metric. Race ALWAYS trumps gender. Full stop.

@chazclark88 @Slangdini Ha, the beat and Aaliyah were great. Felt like Nas mailed that in on that verse. But I’d pick that over K-I-S-S-I-N-G since he had pay royalties to that one guy. Also, felt like been dr. Knockboots and these two songs, he only needed one of them

The funny thing is …the second album was successful and radio play . Old heads hated it but not the teenagers . The pink suit was more detrimental than the music . Iww was huge summer 96 critics just hated he wanted radio ..and that narrative took over ..then I am bootlegged
🐢✨America Is Musty✨🐢@DragonflyJonez

Kinda. Nas definitely chased radio play and received a lot of criticism about that. Went from Premo, Large Professor, Pete Rock producing his debut to Trackmasters producing the bulk of IWW. It’s why “is it Oochie Wally or is it One Mic” was such a haymaker for Jay in that battle
