Morphy requires actual reflection before he’ll share a game report. I think that’s a better way to learn.

I've hit a plateau in chess. I think the best way (for me) to get better is a dedicated study in one area. I'll study M. Ríos' Chess Structures, and share how that helps. Two outcomes I believe will come from that are: 1) improved openings 2) clearer middlegame thinking

Meet ‘the Doctor,’ a centenarian chess hustler who turned 103 last December. He claims to have been born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, though that may be stretching things a little, considering the monarchy disappeared in 1918 😅 For decades, he has been one of the familiar faces at the chess tables in the southwest corner of Washington Square Park. He still plays every day, from mid-morning until late in the evening. ‘I am always up for a game, but I can’t play rapid chess,’ he says with disarming humility. The chess world is full of characters so extraordinary that, if you encountered them in fiction, you would probably think the author had gone too far.

Today I had the chance to photograph Johnny, one of the most legendary chess hustlers in NYC. I was surprised he remembered playing me, two years ago! “You beat me, but you didn’t take any pictures back then,” he said. Well, I’ve fixed that now.

@FRosyrat96857 @ChessNetwork Builds an attack on b5. Options are to defend directly (i think this fails in the end and the pawn dies) or to create counter play on the kingside. (To be fair, I’m not certain that succeeds either but that’s how i’d play this.

@checkmatetheday Hi Daniel,You don't need to memorize lines, just understand the ideas behind the openings so you won't fall for opening traps, Also please,Can I get a copy of chess structure if it's a soft copy?
