When people are getting paid for leave (in most states), it’s often because the employer has a STD policy but even then, you’re only paid for recovery time and for most deliveries, that’s 6 wks

@hammerl_karin @RpsAgainstTrump Almost all work places provide maternity leave of 10 weeks plus and most states too. Just bc they don’t qualify under FMLA does not mean they aren’t taking maternity leave. You know one person is not evidence of broader policy

@MattSchirm_CAA The avg out of pocket cost for D3 after all is still $16K a yr. Parents of seniors now are panicking that they relied on scholarships etc and the money just isn’t there. My son got another scholarship yesterday from his dad’s co and w all, 4 yrs of free college at D1/in-state.

@cheryl0606 Makes sense, but some families write off D3 because of the sticker price without realizing how much financial aid they might be able to earn. It’s at last worth going through the process with a D3 to see what the actual out of pocket cost will be.

Here's an attitude I hear from high school players occasionally: "If my only options for playing college baseball are D3, then I'll just go to school." There's nothing wrong with "just going to school," but I generally struggle with this attitude. I think... - Have you seen a D3 baseball game? Do you REALLY understand how good D3 baseball is? (Note: It's better than most people think) - If you think you're "better than D3," why not prove it by being a D3 All-American your freshman year and then transfer up? (Note: Most (if not all) D3 All-Americans are good enough to play at a "higher level") - Isn't playing college baseball anywhere better than not playing at all? I understand that all players will have to "hang up the cleats at some point" and should get to decide for themselves when that point is without judgment...but I also suspect a some players miss out on a great college baseball experience (and a great education) only because their ego tells them they're "too good for D3." If you're reading this as a player who would choose just going to school over D3 baseball, I'd love to know why. Feel free to comment below.

@kingxtwink @emalby @luxemiaa Where does it say premium economy? Not sure which airlines you’re flying but I’ve never been in 2A without it being first class. Regardless, it doesn’t matter - it’s still a seat that I paid more for so I’m not downgrading to keep a family together who didn’t plan well enough.

@cheryl0606 @luxemiaa People with good intentions dont always live their life as if everyone expects bad intentions. You have your reasons for being suspicious and this guy in the post has his reasons for not even thinking about that possibility. Neither are wrong, neither are right.

So after work I text my friend and say “hey is dm’ing me asking me to call him, is everything ok?” A while later, after I guess she talked to him, she replies to say “oh yeah it’s about my birthday”, and proceeds to send me his number. He dm’ed me like 5 minutes later saying it was supposed to be a surprise and basically I ruined the birthday celebration!! Am I the trip to Miami? Was I wrong?? 😫😫

@emalby @luxemiaa I have two kids and would never have expected (or even asked) someone to give up their first class seat because I didn’t plan well enough to buy seats sitting together. The few times that our seats weren’t together, we were separated for a few hours and we survived.

@luxemiaa You paid, fair. One thing I’d say though and don’t take it as a critique. Once you’ll have kids -if you will have one day - this won’t bother you anymore.

The biggest scam in the travel baseball tournament industry. Mandatory stay to play. It makes the tournament organizations look like criminals. Expecting parents to donate more money to them to stay in overpriced rooms so they can get a kickback is lunacy.

@davetv2099 @luxemiaa Even when I travel solo, I pay to be able to select my seat because I have my preferences. If families want to sit together, they should opt to pay to select their own seats. Their lack of planning doesn’t override that I paid extra for my seat.

They just had to make it covid mRNA specific and do testing on that but the concept was already there and tested
