The left map shows the minimum temperatures on the morning of 15th December last year. What a contrast to today's minimum temperatures. For many it has been the coldest December morning since 2010, over a decade in the waiting.

It’s -5° in rural Suffolk this morning. The forecast daytime temperature for Monday is 13°. Goodbye winter, hello mud. 😕

Temperatures really diving down again tonight.. would expect large parts of the country to reach -5°C tonight, likely even lower for many. 🥶🥶

@UKWX_ Agree. It's going to be a very interesting 10 days, don't see if being mild for very long at all. Some big snow possibilities. The leading edge of snow will be hard to predict.

@chewyuk Do think the snow risk could easily extend into W Midlands

On Sunday morning, the Atlantic will mark its presence, but in doing so it's likely to bring the risk of significant transient snowfall. Possibility of 2-5cm widely on low ground with 10-20cm on high ground. Uncertainty how far south the snow risk may be, north favoured.
