@fre3m0 @NathanielRClark God curses the ground, such that Adam must work it with hard labor all the days of his life (Day). Cain later takes up this work, but makes his offering at the "end of days" (Night). Perhaps it was time for Adam's work to cease to give way for a time of rest.

@NathanielRClark Another theory in the same vein: in failing to keep the sabbath, Cain overworked his field and produced a poor crop.

1. If Cain's murder of Abel is the principle event after the Fall that leads to the Flood, what would Adam's daughters have thought about his sons? 2. If the Flood was meant to do away with Nephilim, how would the death penalty have reinforced this?

(1/2) Gen 6 doesn't state whether the daughters of Adam were wed voluntarily to the sons of God, but if they were, one question is why they would have accepted the sons of God instead of the "sons of Adam."

@sympractical Adah and Zillah, Listen to my voice, You wives of Lamech, Pay attention to my words, For I have killed a man for wounding me; And a boy for striking me! If Cain is avenged seven times, Then Lamech seventy-seven times!

When Christians talk about forgiveness, it’s usually fake. Forgiveness requires a concrete outcome wherein the offender does not face the consequences for their actions. Letting go of personal bitterness is a figurative therapeutic interpretation.

@fre3m0 "[God] created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them “mankind/Adam” on the day when they were created" (Gen 5:2) - closest I could find to "naming" of Adam.

It’s not clear how Adam gets his name or whether he is given one. Even Bible translators are inconsistent about translating forms of adam/ha-adam as man/the man/Adam. Maybe adam is nameless. It’s in this line of thinking that Babel is adam’s attempt to make a name for himself.
Clay@fre3m0

Day 4: God stops naming His creations. Days 5–6: Adam names the creatures. God doesn’t name again until Abraham, Sarah, and Israel. Is this tied to His promise to make Abraham’s seed like the stars of heaven? Joseph’s dream echoes the pattern. Did God wait to name the stars?

@raypleat @laisofealdwine The word "cannibal" actually started as Cainabel. Fun and completely true fact I learned recently.

@ciro98762894 Judah let there be a light (a fire to burn her) but the waters reflected it back to him, causing an evening to fall upon the light and bringing the dawn of a new light (repentance) the next morning.

The story of Tamar really makes you think as to what kind of mirror she was trying to put in front of Judah. It could be showing him his hipocrisy, something along the lines of "You condenm me for playing the whore, yet you pay whores for your pleasure".

In Gen. 7 Noah already knows about clean and unclean animals. In Gen. 8 Noah sacrifices clean animals which God accepts as a “soothing aroma.” There is already a clear understanding as to what an acceptable sacrifice is according to God. This is a long time before Moses.

@realjosepheliah Adam "let there be a light" to try and rule some Earth but had yet to split the waters, so his light was reflected back to him and he saw that he was naked. This brought an evening upon the light and the Earth was returned to its state from before the light was sent.

@realjosepheliah Yes! This is a very interesting emphasis and it definitely makes sense why "rumination" can be the key to solving lots of these kinds of problems. Being able to turn food that is "bad for food" into food that is "good for food."

@chh2oman Why the concept of ruminating is important. CHEW on it sufficiently before swallowing. If you don't, it will chew you in exile.

How are the two branches of ToL (sustenance and renewal), or the TKGB, related to the two witnesses, if at all?

@realjosepheliah I've heard an idea similar to that. If the fruit is not ripe, Eve can see that the tree is good for food (the tree looks the same bearing ripe or non-ripe fruit) but its fruit can still be poisonous. Definitely accords with that notion of the serpent as well.

@chh2oman The fruit is good for food in the future. It's something you need but can't integrate right now. Eve is listening to the snake who sees from the perspective of time. One day it will be good for food. But eating too early is poisonous.
