Why are people saying gauche is sophisticated? I don’t even think I read the word in books, I’m pretty sure I got it from trashy shows/movies being delivered by the bitchiest character 🤷‍♀️

@123itsmeMary This has nothing to do with learning French though as the use of gauche is not the way they would in French. We have an English meaning for it so should be learning outside of language classes.

@PaganScribe @furfeet @MoreOrLessAMess Gauche IS used in French but it means “left”. It is used in English with a different meaning frequently (I’m originally from small town BC). Silhouette is incredibly common and very bad sign if someone in high school is coming across it for the first time.

Well, my mum was not French and didn't speak French. Those two words, are literal French words, and yes, used in French often. I grew up on science classes like Chem, Biology, biochem, physics...also Algebra, creative writing....which was an elective...English classes taught Chaucer and Shakespeare...those were required learning...social studies classes which included learning about my country Canada....our Neighbor the USA, Europe and the rest of the world, had consumer Ed which taught us stocks, balancing budgets, and cheque books, had cooking and home economics classes for every student. Even shop classes like wood work and metal work...French classes were a required class at the time in the 80s. I totally know what these words are....they were never popular words for teens, at least where I lived, and just because someone does not use these words, does not, in anyway, shape or form...make them illiterate...as you can see from my list, I had a hell of a rounded higher education focused on learning, not mere words. To everyone....have a good day, eh?

Why would silhouette and gauche be familiar to modern teens?

People are blindly defending Dorit, but Sutton is absolutely right here. Why would I show up to your event and pretend to be happy? She at least sent a respectful text message saying that she can’t come. Would Dorit have rather her show up in a bad mood? Damned if you do… #RHOBH

Watching how unemotional and bored Dorit looks when Kyle is discussing her life shows exactly who she is… she was bored because she couldn’t discuss herself for 5 minutes. #RHOBH

This reunion is hard to watch… people are having a conversation and Dorit brings it back to talk about herself. Amanda’s segment missed out due to this. Plus Dorit won’t let anyone else talk, takes zero accountability, and is overthinking everything. #rhobh

Wait… gauche MAYBE could see it as being more of a fad word from a time period (unless you’re French as it just means “left” as in “turn left”) but SILHOUETTE! That’s just a word for a thing. That’s normal vocabulary! Open the schools!
