Oh, Kat, so sorry to hear your news. It is hard to believe there is a plan when you are reeling from the disappointment. My mom had a miscarriage just before I was conceived and when I had a miscarriage after 5 infertility treatments, the only consolation was that I wouldn't be here if that miscarriage hadn't happened in 1956. And Thursday is my daughter's 28th birthday and the same thing is true in her life. Praying for quick recovery and knowing that God's plan is magnified through challenges and that you will have an amazing story to tell from this valley. Big hug.

That is such great news. Watching our adult kids move into that next stage of "adultness" is amazing. Sounds like our kids are about the same age, although I started WAY later than you did!! Tomorrow is the 23rd anniversary of the adoption of our son from Russia when he was a few days shy of 3 years old. I was 45 and my husband was 52. And I had my daughter (who is about to turn 28) when I was 40.

Scenes out of Portland right now, federal agents are breaking up aggressive protest crowds with water hoses, soaking groups that showed up ready to clash and pushing them back fast. For some, this is happiness. After years of unrest in places like Portland, seeing a different response feels like a long-overdue shift in how these situations are handled. Around the world, water hoses have been used to disperse riots without escalating further, and they’ve been effective at restoring order quickly. Is this the kind of approach you think should become more common here in the U.S.?

SISTER HEALTH UPDATE: ❤️‍🩹 🙏 They've taken Heather back down to the ICU because they think she might have had a mild stroke. She was experiencing some confusion and some vision problems. They are working with her right now. Please keep praying. It's not unusual after a quadruple bypass to have a minor stroke.

After her 7th bout with cancer, my mom passed away peacefully this morning. She was surrounded by family and I held her hand at the end. She taught me to love life, and to fight for justice. To eat a meal with my mom meant to savor every morsel. It was never just a chocolate croissant. It was THE BEST chocolate croissant she had ever eaten. And it needed to be warmed to the perfect temperature so that the chocolate was a little bit melty. We could not go see a movie or a play without mom psycho-analyzing every character defect and insecurity. She also did that with all of the women I dated (expect for my wife Reena who is a perfect angel). Her humor was wicked and irreverent. Later in life mom developed a deep conscience and commitment to social justice. She marched for Civil Rights and helped register voters in the Mississippi Freedom Summer. In college, she put her body on the line to protest the Vietnam War. As an adult, her activism turned to academics. She taught social work at Smith College and wrote the definitive text on psychodynamic theory. Her book is taught in almost every social work school in the country. My mom loved to mentor young people. Everywhere I go, former students come up and tell me how much she meant to them. I became a teacher and a public servant to follow in her footsteps. Watching my mom lose her physical prowess has been painful. These last few months of disappointing diagnoses and worsening symptoms have been draining. A woman who jogged ten miles per day could barely walk a few blocks. The world will be less bright and brilliant without her in it. But mom, I am so incredibly proud and grateful for the life you gave me. You’ve earned your rest. We love you.

Please pray for my husband he is in critical condition with multiple organ failure, double pneumonia and sepsis. Covid (2024)and a car accident that broke his neck ( 2025) tried to take him . It sounds impossible but all things are possible with God!

That is where you are off Steph. Those of us that know how to negotiate deals that preserve our precious capital also know that you have to provide a hefty multiplier for someone "betting on the come". We make it worth their while. The economics aren't the same. And by the way, you do want to find someone that doesn't need all that "handholding". Older founders are a better bet. Don't be scared of investing in a company founded by a 68 year old. DM me and I'll show you why.
