@ValToadstool @DuplessiePhilip oh you know ball. correct takes on rocks and waters, but too far ahead of the discourse. just like it took a decade for ppl to realize red/blue golbat is a good sprite and not a bad one

@DuplessiePhilip You get surf too early for how good it is in most games. TMs of similar strength are usually held off until late or post game

some pokemon fans really want every type to have 90 bp 100 accuracy no drawback moves in both physical and special and I think that would be boring

@rankomon red/green type imbalance is also just jrpg shit. psychic, ice, dragon are boss types. you gotta go through hoops or reach the late game to get your own. of course alakazam's better than beedrill, too bad, you were lookin for An Entry In The Pokémon Series and you got a jrpg

A lot of people are saying "Psychic types disprove this" when you gotta remember...you're right. They realized it too. And they introduced Dark and Steel the very next gen. Notice how they're both weak to Fighting, a very underperforming type!

STAB moves that actually synergize with the best attacking stat used to be rare on purpose back in the day. It was self balancing in way that the maximum damage a 'mon could do was limited. Damage multipliers nowadays make everyone very easily 1-2 shot with boosted stab moves

At one point in Inquisition when Cullen apologizes for something he says “that was unworthy of me” and I actually kind of love that framing. Like, ego-centric but specifically in a way where you expect more from yourself. People could learn a lot from Commander Cullen.

I think it’s too bad that we treat the act of “apologizing” like some kind of degrading humiliation ritual. I actually think apologizing can be ego-serving in a positive way. Like, “This doesn’t fit my internal standards for who I am, I expect better from myself” kind of thing.

when you think so little of yourself it is hard to imagine you are capable of causing great harm bc u basically don’t even think u matter. so u commit cruel actions and never recognize them as such.

@NYCgrl81 @nazzobetweeting yup, i'm american and i didn't know this until reading your comment. i've usually flown internationally from O'Hare or MSP so i had just assumed LaGuardia had similar service

@nazzobetweeting This actually feels like something an American would write. Most British authors would know that no plane from the UK would never land at LGA. However, I can see a lot of Americans not realising that LGA has only very limited international service.

i was reading a book by a british author that takes place in NYC and the author wrote “the flight from London landed at LaGuardia Airport” like no. no, it didn’t. no it did not do that.

one of the funniest things to me is when a person writes specific details about boston in a fic and they definitely aren’t from boston cause they’ll be like ilya crashed his car into a tree speeding on newbury street and I’m like no he didn’t

emotionally muddled bc they don't have ppl to delight with their art, which takes heart and spontaneity (ppl talking about the poor anatomy and the horniness, i don't have too much to say along those lines except i think my anatomy skills have all of the same flaws lol)

the way medvedev sometimes genuinely plays tennis like someone who’s never held a racket in their life yet has a slam and was world #1 is so funny. non tennis fans would never believe it 😭😭

@MajorSSB it didn't feel like a big deal. to modern sensibilities it's outrageous but at the time it was just art and life being askew. sucks for hitmonchan but i enjoy it (as well as joined special stat!) as a characterful asymmetry and ppl misunderstand how game balance flows around it
