my hot take is pkmn's still got shit in its mechanics that we'd discuss in these same terms but don't bc the series never changed it. xp/level scaling for instance. 5 to 50 is too dramatic. constrains non-linearity, fucks up difficulty curve, causes ludonarrative absurdities

STAB moves that actually synergize with the best attacking stat used to be rare on purpose back in the day. It was self balancing in way that the maximum damage a 'mon could do was limited. Damage multipliers nowadays make everyone very easily 1-2 shot with boosted stab moves

At one point in Inquisition when Cullen apologizes for something he says “that was unworthy of me” and I actually kind of love that framing. Like, ego-centric but specifically in a way where you expect more from yourself. People could learn a lot from Commander Cullen.

I like that "tu" has almost totally "defeated" "usted" in Spain even in ordinary conversations between people who do not know each other. It is like "you" defeating "thou". Am not sure that's (yet) the case in other languages like French or Polish.
