@BaucheJoseph @Robkearney1981 You're idealistic and that would be terrible for the world, which still votes on majority tribal and racial lines. Countries would simply leave the UN.

@elonmusk Trump should be jailed for being an Epstein client, not assassinated. He's evil, but society should stick to civility and laws.

@BaucheJoseph @Robkearney1981 The veto is what blocks the rest of the UN ganging up on Britain, France, etc. Both countries must keep the permanent seats, although it looks like France will give theirs to the EU.

The UK can no longer defend them - the Royal Navy couldn’t even get a single working destroyer to Crete without breakdown. The Army and Navy that won in the Falklands no longer exist - and I seriously doubt the current lot has the backbone of thatcher. You can either live in the past or take your country back before it’s loo late

If Britain were to lose the Falklands, it wouldn’t just be a geopolitical setback, it would be a defining moment in modern British history, and not for the right reasons. The Falkland Islands are a British Overseas Territory, and their sovereignty should be non negotiable. Allowing them to fall without resistance would result in loss of credibility on the world stage.

Britain could lose the Falklands because of weak leadership. It's not the 80s anymore, there's no Thatcher in charge and the UK is a depressing shell of its former self. If Argentina simply walks in and takes over, possibly soon with Trump's approval, what exactly will Keir Starmer do? Send an angry worded letter? Would he even care at all?

@UnityNewsNet Maybe Milei wants to cull Argentines to make way for Jews. That's what will happen if he attacks Britain.

So Milei goes and licks the wall then the next thing he wants a war over the Falklands. Well considering the last time israel sold weapons to the Argentinians it all makes sense.

@DownHomeJohn @UnderscoreYara Nah. Europe will normalise relations with Russia and China. The US lose their influence around the globe.

@chimpriot @UnderscoreYara Economically you’re gonna pay a lot more in taxes when the US pulls out of NATO. You’re gonna have to donate a decade of national wealth collectively to make up the loss.

@ThomasNuckles @afneil Nope. The whole story came from the US administration "rethinking" their stance on Falklands, and Trump emboldening Milei. The UK, Europe and USA will diverge heavily, and Americans will regret that choice in time.

Argentina doesn’t have Navy capable of mounting an invasion of the Falklands and any airborne invasion would be taken out by UK’s formidable Sky Sabre missile defences. Argentina spends under 1% of GDP on military and has no plans to spend the billions required to modernise its forces, which in many areas are even weaker than they were in 1982.
Steven Ziegenbusch@StevenZieg3001

@afneil All of that may be true, however, with very little Navy forces that are ready to go it would be very difficult to rearm and replenish your forces from 8000 miles away while Argentina is 300 miles away from the Islands. In 1982 Britain could project power, not any more.

@RodDMartin Why would sending a destroyer be useful when the capability of the destroyer is already built on the island? Are Iran going to invade with their navy?

In 1982, Margaret Thatcher heroically sent 127 ships to take back the Falklands. In 2026, Keir Starmer, whose navy has more admirals than warships, was unable to successfully send even one destroyer to defend the RAF base on Cyprus. Incredible.
