$SLVM - new CEO, was the CFO and an IP lifer before and they are just now focusing on a Lean transformation? The only question is what consultant did they hire. Guy isnt bringing a lot of credibility despite lip service.

The LIRR strike -- the ridiculous overtime, the silly work rules, the bloated pensions -- is just business as usual in our biggest cities. If you want to fix gov't services and restore fiscal sanity to city budgets, you've got to get a handle on public sector unions.

@valuedontlie agree but need a view on near term fundamentals/confidence what they are going to actually earn and whether that impacts ability to de lever near term ex asset sales. I just havent done work but see the potential and its a priority. Delever/re rate/pure play rezi a nice set up

@chipperPat Seems the market is/has already punished them for the levered M&A? Resi still weak too I’d like to see more asset sales (infrastructure business should fetch a good multiple)

@valuedontlie Long - mgmt team has done good things over the years. This is a big swing with debt the market will hate, but it’s likely the right move 3-5 years from now. I’m most curious their plan to exit smaller segments and focus on residential which feels wise and what they are signaling

Public sector employee unions are a menace to society.

many of these names are going to float/tread water or decline. But when they move, they will move hard and at once. Only those with stable capital (hard to get) can really take advantage.

It also makes it ever more difficult for activists to build stakes and using votes as a tool for change. There is a great opportunity in buying businesses going through transformation and change but until/when numbers go up - and those numbers are clean, and leverage is stable.
