Yesterday my cell provider's DNS server died, which is how I found out that iOS has no built in functionality for setting a custom DNS server for a cellular connection. I solved it by hooking mDNSResponder. Might make a GUI for changing the settings if I'm not too lazy.

@hardwarecanucks Crazy how 30 years of Crucial loyal customers is just exchanged for that AI demand. I hope SMIC or even Intel will come to this market, at least fill that AI appetite.

This is bad, bad news. Especially since Crucial is the biggest avenue for retail-facing SODIMM upgrade modules (on Amazon, Newegg, etc).

@durreadan01 iOS 26 are terrible: not only about liquid ass, but about optimization: it's laggy even on 16 pro, no downgrade option (like Macs), and feels like beta. Maybe next year it'll be polished like release. I want just fine system, not fancy effects. Like old iOS 5 days.

Apple just gave up to twitter rants by: 1. Android users who haven’t even tried liquid glass for more than 10 mins on their friend’s iPhone 2. Android fans who temporarily bought iPhone 17 because of the hype but will complain and eventually go back 3. People who just whine about every change Apple’s change of philosophy was why I switched to Android several months ago, but came back to iPhone this month again because iPhone 17 was good. And now I want to switch to Android again because Android is, at least, true to its nature still. iOS isn’t.

@LeakerApple Screen protector is good for saving/renew oleophobic coating, original one is strong, but if you clean your phone with alcohol, it’s gone much faster, better on screen protector not phone screen itself

The iPhone 17 series might be the first time you’re better off NOT using a screen protector. The front Ceramic Shield 2 is so strong and scratch resistant that putting a screen protector over it will only lead to a scratched up and cracked glass surface that would otherwise have been fine. Also, screen protectors ruin the new anti-reflective coating, meaning brightness will be reduced substantially.

@nyan_satan @DongleBookPro My 16 pro holds about 6+ hours of SOT, still need to charge daily. Oneplus 12 (also mine) holds up to 12 hours of SOT, but phone definitely bigger

@chiptunext @DongleBookPro IDK, my 16 Pro Max holds 2 days easily, and I use it quite a lot as well

@i0n1c @HexRaysSA You’re right. I mean piracy can support sales of IDA: plugins, tutorials, articles. And newer model of sales can ruin it. More community support of competitors - less sales in future.

@chiptunext @HexRaysSA IDA exists because of paying customers not because of some people who pirate it. Yeah sure this bad move by hexrays will result in a massive piracy spike. But far worse for them it will result in a drastic reduction in sales long term.

Keep in mind that once you start working with IDA 9 you are on the hook for lifetime payments. You cannot open your work in IDA 8.4 and the moment you stop paying @HexRaysSA you will lose all the work you did with IDA 9 - so it is best to never even invest in migrating.

@BetaProfiles Stealers can just reprogramming battery, camera, display with different SN. Locking battery is crazy. We need to fix face id with spare parts from another iPhone

Replaceable parts such as Battery, Display, Camera, etc., in iPhone 12 and later can now be linked to your Apple Account and activate Activation Lock if they are installed in another iPhone. This feature is now active in iOS 18 RC.
