I don’t personally feel like it should be ‘necessary’ to plan lessons outside of PPA time seeing as it’s literally called ‘planning, preparation & assessment’, the time is allocated I won’t be doing it in my own time, give me more if it’s not adequate.

@chloe_creates_x @Positivteacha Our contracts do clearly state that we need to work additional hours as necessary. I don’t think it’s wild to point that out. I’m also not saying it’s fair, but we all knew what rhe contract said when we signed up. And teaching on the fly doesn’t literally mean unplanned lolz

It’s crazy how little money I’ve lost from striking really. 3 days pay seems like a lot but it equates to £167.37 in real terms. Not possible for everyone but seems a small price to pay to stand up for our schools!

I find it hilarious that although I was deducted £122 for the strike day, I only lost out on £55 in real terms due to the sheer amount of tax, NI, student loan and pension I usually pay 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ #TeacherStrike

This will no doubt be an unpopular opinion, but I’ve always taken the stance that if the union votes for strike action, then members *must* act accordingly. Otherwise we are fighting for fair pay, etc. for members who aren’t making the sacrifice we are. #TeacherStrike

Why can’t we have a 4-day week for the students, then a whole day for teachers to plan, collaborate, etc? I feel like it’s a no brainer but no one wants to pull the trigger.

I am convinced that anyone who genuinely says ‘just let students go to the toilet when they want’ don’t understand teenage kids and how schools work currently 😂

I really don’t know how I’m going to face next term.

I really feel like I’m surviving in teaching at the moment. Just constant to do lists and less and less time to complete it all ughhhh 😢

If people think every teacher who is desperate and angry and fed up with pay and conditions was on strike yesterday they are wrong. There is real scope for these strikes to get far larger.

Whether it’s today or any day, teachers should always support teachers. That’s it. I hope you all have a great day.
