@david_parker @DavidStaplesYEG It's not often discussed but their salary is also structured for time spent in the classroom. They are paid on a 10 month scale that is pro-rated over the summer. I respect your opinion, but I hope this maybe sheds some light on things as well.

Class size is a massive issue. Some classrooms packed to the rafters with students. Good teachers are burning out. But something doesn't add up. We have 750,000 students and 51,000 teachers, reports the Journal. That is 14.7 students per teacher. edmontonjournal.com/news/politics/…

@david_parker @DavidStaplesYEG It's easy for the rest of us to focus only on the "visible" time that is spent in the classroom but the student come first and I have witnessed the amount of care and effort that is brought to the table every day in this profession.

@david_parker @DavidStaplesYEG Very respectfully, my wife has been a teacher for over 20 years and she is the hardest working person I know. She works evenings and weekends over the school year to prepare lessons and work on development plans for those with severe needs.

@DavidStaplesYEG Hi David. The total teacher number accounts for all staff including administrators, specialists (music, PE, Art etc.), as well as those staff working at the division level that are not actively teaching in classrooms daily. It also does not breakdown FT and PT teachers
