@veritasalways1 Oh well, if you won’t listen to medical professionals or to the lawyers who confirm that people with the relevant certificate are female then I don’t see why you’d listen to me and I have no interest in debating someone who refuses to listens to experts.

If you were born male the you are still male now. Humans cannot change their sex. We are mammals not clown fish. Weak males aren’t women. Medicalised males aren’t women. Males who have had surgery on their scrotum or penis are not women. Males who have a certificate saying they are legally female are not women. Women are female in reality.

Can we start listening to actual experts like Kirsti on this topic rather than just the bigots who don’t understand what they are talking about? Of course we need strict criteria to ensure fairness. No one disputes that. But with those in place, there is no problem.
Kirsti Miller@KirstiMiller30

Since 1976, transgender women have been eligible to compete in the ladies' category at major tournaments such as Wimbledon, the United States Open, the Australian Open, and the French Open. Despite this, fifty years later, there has yet to be a transgender woman who has won a Grand Slam title. In tennis, if a male athlete wishes to transition from the male to female category, the process typically requires the athlete to abstain from competition for several years. The sport does not permit a male player to simply declare a gender change and immediately participate in female events at Wimbledon or other tournaments. As both a researcher and a transgender athlete myself, I concur that no male athlete should be allowed to self-identify as female and compete in women’s categories without meeting established criteria. For male athletes seeking to compete as females, the regulations specify strict hormonal requirements. They must undergo hormone therapy involving testosterone suppression and estrogen supplementation for a minimum of two years. During this period, they are required to maintain testosterone levels below 2.5 nmol/L and undergo additional physical assessments. Such hormone treatment significantly impacts physical attributes related to athletic performance, including stamina, strength, recovery, and speed. Research indicates that even in international sports such as cycling, transgender women lose their male advantage within one year of beginning hormone therapy. After three to four years of treatment, a male athlete would likely experience diminished physical capabilities, making it improbable to compete successfully or win at the Grand Slam level in women’s tennis. transresearch.org.au/post/trans-wom…

@veritasalways1 We aren’t female? I can’t speak for you, but I am. And once again, I’m not talking about men. I’m talking about trans women who have no physical advantage over any other type of women.

@chochlo Women are not medicalised men. Women are not men who take hormones. Women are not men who have had penile surgeries. Women are not a dress. We aren’t female. That’s the criteria. A quick cheek swab can identify someone’s sex if the person should not be aware of what sex they are

@veritasalways1 I do agree that we need criteria to ensure fairness - no one disputes that. But we should be very careful and consider each person on a case by case basis. Testing all women is very intrusive and there will be some who find their genes are very different to what they assumed.

@speakoutsister That is unusual though - most are private and most of those are selective. I know of plenty of good ones where many girls thrive but it doesn’t suit everyone. Either way, mixing more (at least socially) benefits everyone.

@speakoutsister Girls are much more likely to take STEM s ubjects in girls schools. Personally I preferred mixed and I think boys do better in mixed. There were state single-sex non-selective schools near me growing up (near Bath) that I think still exist. They were not great (then, at least).

Yes exactly. I'm not aware of any girls schools which don't select academically. A great many are private.
Kit Peacock@KitPeacock

@speakoutsister My experience of same sex education was far more positive than that, and there is a significant evidence basis for girls doing better academically without boys. However, many all girls schools are also academically selective, which I suspect throws the data off.

@TeresaH34036815 @nyaraVT Seriously have you ever met any women? We spend our lives being judged against society’s ridiculous expectations of beauty and yet you think we’d be ok being told we look like a man over and over again? Some women might not care or react but others would absolutely kick off.

Ahh, poor deluded bloke. He thinks we need to inspect what’s in his pants to determine whether he is male or not. In 99% of cases it’s blindingly obvious just by looking at him. What being a man, he doesn’t realise is a few masculine looking women won’t have any issue being challenged. It’s only the fetishistic, paraphilic blokes like him who will descend into full male aggression mode, when challenged. As they say “Say no, to a transwoman, and the bloke immediately appears”. Have you guys ever considered just being honest and respecting the rights of the women you claim to be, and keeping out of woman’s spaces?

Can somebody explain to me how it’s protecting women and children to give strangers the ability to inspect the primary sex characteristics of women that “look trans” or may be trans?

Mental illness is not something to be ashamed of and it can be very difficult to treat. Bullying people who are mentally ill, or who you believe to be mentally ill, is despicable behaviour. Bullying anyone is unacceptable.

If people genuinely believe that being trans/thinking you are trans or whatever is mental illness, then why don’t they respond with compassion? Why is it considered ok to hurl this much hate at someone you believe is already mentally ill? How does this help someone “get over it”?

@roisinmurphy @crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin Trans people just want to live and work like anyone else. They might want other people to acknowledge they exist but they aren’t trying to indoctrinate anyone. I am not trying to indoctrinate anyone either.

@roisinmurphy @crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin I repeat, trans people existing in work isn’t indoctrination. Schools have the checks in place to make sure that kids are not indoctrinated by anyone. Who is the “you” you refer to in your tweet? Are you assuming that I am trans just because I don’t hate trans people?

There will be many more trans-identifying teachers coming into the system, that's for sure. And there will be many desperate parents who don’t want the inevitable indoctrination, because that’s what you do (completely unlike black people, gays, or any other minority). This will be another war with kids caught in the middle, very unfortunately.

@roisinmurphy @crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin Indeed, as do most teachers, but you haven’t yet told me what parents are actually concerned about. A trans person simply existing at work when they have passed all relevant employment and safeguarding checks is no more of a concern than any other person.

@roisinmurphy @crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin I don’t recall mentioning bigotry in my tweet. Schools have strict employment and safeguarding rules to make sure kids are safe. A trans person who has passed all of these checks is no greater risk to children than any other teacher who has passed the checks.

@roisinmurphy @crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin Existing in work as a trans person is not indoctrination. Teachers are employed by schools, not by parents. Parents can withdraw their kids if they’re not happy with the school but they have no direct say in who teaches their children, even at private schools where they pay fees.

@crhealy72 @Sarahjdublin Parents don’t want transgender teachers, my dear. They just want their kids to get an education, not indoctrination into your cult. They pay their taxes; it’s their children, and they have a right to a say.

@gnordlan @stacycay No. I watched documentaries about this in the 80s and 90s. The first gender reassignment surgeries in the modern era were carried out in the 1930s but there’s evidence of trans people going back thousands of years. Lack of language to describe yourself doesn’t change who you are.

@stacycay Before, 2000, they just weren't trans. There was no language or concepts to express those thoughts. They couldn't be explored because the language didn't exist.

Let’s just pretend this number is accurate: What should we do with the 5% of kids who grow up and stay trans? Ban their healthcare and ban them from public bathrooms? Send them to male prisons?
Riley Gaines@Riley_Gaines_

Up to 95% of kids with gender dysphoria resolve it naturally with time & maturity. The people & institutions profiting off their vulnerability would rather medicalize than help heal. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness & it's time it's treated as such. americafirstpolicy.com/issues/gender-…

Boycott the petrol station because I don’t want anything to do with Farage or Reform? Or take advantage of the offer and force them to spend more of their money? Thankfully this dilemma is moot because I live nowhere near the relevant petrol station, and I drive an EV.

@hippocampophile I get that it’s unpredictable and everyone is doing their best, but it’s not entitlement to think that an appointment time might at least be roughly accurate. Unrealistic, perhaps, but not entitled. I’ve turned up on time for appts to find the surgery isn’t even unlocked.
