About a year and a half ago, I got a similar letter. I never shared it or reported it because, honestly, I felt like the entire state was coming after me. How was I supposed to ask the same people who were harassing me and smearing my name to protect me? We all basically moved.

Several days ago, I received a threatening letter informing me that I am "moving up on 'the List," and that I am "fucked." The letter calls me a "kapo," indicating its authorship by a Zionist fanatic, possibly affiliated with an outfit like JDL Brotherhood 613, or from Betar dead-enders who advocate violence against perceived enemies of Israel. I opened this letter as Israel-backed Trump admin allies like Laura Loomer portrayed me as a national security threat and demanded my persecution for reporting from Iran, and as the Trump admin harassed me by illegally seizing my phones. I am not the only person to have received these letters. Howard Heath, a state representative in New Hampshire who is campaigning for Congress on a pledge to cut off military aid to Israel, also reported receiving a letter from the same "Yoor Dedmeet." The return address applied to the letter is the field office of Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian member of Congress. To me, this indicates that she and her staff could also be targets of whichever malicious individual or group sent the letter. I have filed a report with local police and informed the US Postal Service Inspector of this threatening letter.

@esmn99br @zxytim Ok but in what way are generative models MORE empowering than the self? They are more expensive, require massive amounts of compute, and I would argue, reduce nearly all of the creativity to a generalized blur of what has already existed

@chodiecodie @zxytim The internet is a channel. Generative models empowers creative people to make visual messages independently from the oligopoly that controls cultural industries. That’s how Labors Party in Brazil was able to pass a tax on billionaires, also Iran gov. broke the US war narrative.

No. We are focused on intelligence frontier right now. Video generation does not bring much intelligence both theoretically and practically. It is useful though.

@zxytim Do you plan make video generation model? We need open source seedance alternative better than ltx

I think the main problem with gamification learning apps, is that they live in the attention market like every other app, and it’s hard to have attention and the struggle which is required for learning. I like gamification cause it’s easier, but I think that definitely makes it less effective that projects. I tried it with coding and language before I truly learned those two things, and it was far less effective for me (hearsay or whatever) . it’s the same with language, I learned Arabic as a second language and after the first month of a (granted very rigorous) course, I was able to just beat all of Duolingo. But also, it can help to have a general path of learning, for example, when I was learning how to code, it was all projects, and I didn’t know what loops were or how to a variable into a function for the first whole YEAR

Gamified learning is perhaps an attempt to create scalable project-based learning. It's better than brute force, but not even halfway to the efficacy of learning while you make something.

@10_X_eng The problem with vibe cad is that anything remotely useful requires you to measure things in real life

@InterspeciesFa1 @zxytim I see what ur saying, I guess I was just hating on Sora and Sora adjacent things, I wonder where we will end up drawing the line on the amount of generative tech being used before people don’t want to call it art

@chodiecodie @zxytim That's built on image generation models. So is the relighting tech they're using. The tech, once built, can be modified and specialized. And I was actually talking about face replacements long using generative AI, though people used to use an older generation of tech.

Generated is a strong word for what VFX artists are doing, and you know that’s not what any of the big labs are working on, at least not publicly, like corridor crews green screen shit is dope, and technically maybe generative, but that’s not what people think of when they hear generative video models

@chodiecodie @zxytim Now, being more specific with you, VFX artists have been using generated visuals for a very long time now, and it can be used to streamline a lot of grunt work or do things formerly near impossible. Also helps AI understand the visual world and interaction of objects.
