@Hugsforvrtra @TicsnTatts @twistedwillow I was taught that "all communication is half what's said/sent and half what's heard/received." I forget if it was implicit or explicit that if they didn't receive what I meant to send, it meant I was communicating badly, never they were receiving incorrectly.

David Tennant has approximately a 6% chance of someone infecting him with COVID this weekend at Comic Con.
COVID is a serious vascular disease. Damage is long-term.
6% is unacceptable. @Fans_MASKUP has made a guide to #SaveDavidTennant, raise awareness and stop infections 🧵1/

😷✈️ Masks and travel.
A few people have been asking me about masking and travel, and I thought it would be an interesting topic to talk about. As a digital nomad, I fly frequently, often taking 4+ monthly flights. However, I’ve never once caught COVID while travelling. I have had it once, but that was when I returned home to New Zealand last year for six months, and I let my guard down. When travelling, I’m always very careful to mask and remain as safe as possible.
Is it safe to travel?
The first question I often get asked is, is it safe to travel in the first place? After all, you are exposing yourself to a significant risk due to the close proximity to other people (and the poor ventilation when the plane is grounded and at many airports). While there will never be zero risk, if you wear a well-fitting respirator (N95 or better), it’s entirely possible to avoid COVID, as I have. On almost all of my flights, I’ve used an Aura of some kind, but I have also used my Envo Mask and even @airpophealth Light SE at times.
How can I eat or drink?
For short flights (less than six hours) I won’t do either. If I prepare by eating and drinking beforehand, I don’t find myself hungry during the flight. While I often become thirsty towards the end of the flight, I’ll wait until I’ve disembarked to remain safe. For longer flights, @SIPmask has been my friend since I started using it. However, I am always careful to ensure my straw never leaves my drink before my respirator.
What respirator should I wear?
As always, this comes down to what is comfortable for you and what fits best (but should always be an N95 or equivalent or better - no masks, only respirators). It’s important to consider comfort when on a long-haul flight, so I opt for headband respirators as they don’t cause pain behind my ears after 4+ hour flights. Since travel is high-risk, I will also ensure I have the best-fitting respirator I’ve used on hand. For me, this is usually an 1870+ or 9205+, but it will differ between people.
It is possible to travel while remaining safe. While there will always be some risk, taking the right measures can greatly reduce this risk. I think it's important to remain aware of COVID and the health impacts it can cause, but I also try not to let it get in the way of my life - I'm just always very careful to ensure I take the measures I can to improve my safety.
Have you travelled during COVID? What has been your experience?

Non-industry folks who may not know: the studios can use snippets of our work w/o compensation for promotional purposes. By putting the film up in small parts, they get $ from the ads that they don't hv to compensate us for because of a technical loophole. Part of why we strike.
